2022 Bird & Blend Advent calendar Day #22

Best tea of the day so far. I really enjoyed the citrusy blend with the lavender. There’s a creaminess to it that reminds me of a nice lemon sherbet I had once. It’s been a stress filled couple of weeks for me due to volunteer roles I’ve taken on combined with my regular work stress. So sleep hasn’t been very easy. I’m hoping that this will help chill me out a bit this evening and I’ll catch a few good blinks.

Nope, too much lavender for me. XD

It does have a nice creamiscle-y citrus & cream flavor profile, but there’s also a strong lavender presence. Which makes it a little too soapy for me.

Oh well, into the rehoming box!

I will take it :D

gmathis

Lavender is a dangerous ingredient: it’s way too easy to over-lav.

Mastress Alita

I love this tea!

Cameron B.

@gmathis – I’m more sensitive to it than most I think, but I still like to try some lavender teas occasionally just to see. :P

Evol Ving Ness

I love lavender and I seem to like it more and more with time. It’s fascinating to me how different we are in terms of tastes, flavours, preferences, and sensitivities. Gmathis, over-lav—you crack me up.

Crowkettle

Over-lav! Love it :D

Lavender used to nauseate me to such a degree as a child that I gave my poor grandma grief (with “swooning” lord) every time we sat out on her patio during the summer (she had the most prolific plant). Now I can’t get enough of it in everything and everywhere (love, love Moondrop Dreams) – so I’m familiar with both of these reactions, lol.

Evol Ving Ness

With swooning yet. Oh dear.

The dry tea smells like a lemon pastry with lavender sprinkled on top. It smells like what I recall of Della Terra’s Lemon Chiffon. This tastes exactly like how it smells. Very good tea!

I love this blend!

Courtney

Me too! I sometimes shy away from lemon, even though I love lemon in baking. I’m glad this one came through as lemony pastry!

Martin Advent Day 12
I had a sip without milk and quickly knew I’d enjoy it more as a latte. It was a little sour plain, but with milk it’s rich and tasty. The lavender is so strong, both in scent and taste. I love lavender! The rooibos is a great base for this blend. It’s such a nice floral latte – I’m so glad I got to try this! It’s been on my wishlist for a while, and now I have to decide whether to buy some more.

This blend reminds me lavender lemonade I used to drink when I was at the University. I haven’t got it in half a year already and somehow I miss it. Unfortunately, you get the last amount I had, so I should place an order with this included!

This one reminds me of the now defunct Della Terra’s Lemon Chiffon, especially the aroma of the steeped cup and the finish. There’s a hint of floral cream (lavender) and some citrus zest, sweetened with apple. There’s also something that pops a bit (like a mostly but not quite flat fizzy soda). The (floral) tobacco-sweet rooibos base is pretty prevalent too. All in all, it’s a pleasant way to wrap things up for the evening.

Rating: 85 I’d pick up more of this in a 25-50g capacity when I’m running low on other favoured B&B teas. I also like this better than most rooibos blends.

I almost had this one for my evening cup. Kinda wish now I had

lavender blends are good sleepy teas, but if it’s hot where you are a fruit herbal sounds like it would be more refreshing!

Smells like a perfect lavender lemonade. There’s no tartness from the lemon in the flavor, though. It’s a very strong Provencal lavender that overpowers everything else. Though, that’s not a bad thing for me. I can’t taste the rooibos, which is also a win. I also added a bit of foamed oat milk, and it was excellent.

I bought 50 grams of this during Boxing day sale, as I really like it! And after a few preparations for family members I decided to brew it for myself today.

2 tsp, 300 ml.

Oh my… the lavender is so strong! And citruses! Lemons!
Brewed.. it’s truly very floral. Probably more than I remember. Very refreshing. I neeed to cod brew it. I got some rosheips in which produced some complexity. But haven’t overpowered the other ingredients.

Ohh great!

Bird & Blend Tea Advent calendar Day 2:

Nice. I’m a fan of caffeine free teas for evening. I’m not a fan of floral teas. The lavender is quite strong. But the lemon in this one adds a bright note. Not one I’d order, but I’m super glad to get to try it. That is one of the great things about these advent calendars. You get to try 25 different teas, many of which I would never have purchased. Some I will probably not like, others I will love, and I bet there will be a few that I wouldn’t never have tried, but absolutely adore.

So if you enjoy relaxing floral teas with a bright zing of lemon, I think you would really like this one.

YES. This tea is everything I hoped it would be. Sweet, creamy lavender and an amazing pop of lemon. Absolutely delicious. Just nix the rooibos and it would be my perfect lavender tea (whyyyy do the best lavender teas have rooibos bases?!). Fortunately, the base isn’t too bothersome, but a nice black/white blend would suit it much better.

Really happy I picked this up; would be a definite repurchase from me if I order again and it’s around.

I think the rooibos B&B uses is really good… the rooibos could be worse, so I generally like their blends. I like their rooibos better than their older Ceylon! I think they use a better base now though. I think this is one of the previous vote winners so it’s a permanent tea!

Kittenna

Yeah, it seems to be better than what some companies use! I’m not too familiar with their other base teas, though I’m admittedly not fond of whatever Lady Lavender has as the base (it is strong and harsh). Very glad to hear this is a previous vote winner! And no wonder; it’s so good.

Sweet 16th day of Sara’s advent calendar.

Moondrop Dreams!

The leaf smells amazeballs. Steeped it smells… kind of like honey with a hint of spice.

The first sip was like some kind of spice journey without a map. There are a lot of spices in there, well balanced, having a party. There’s a note of honey at the end of the sip.

I had to cheat and look at the ingredients while sipping to pick out the orange zest and lavender flavors, and I still couldn’t pick out others. But I’m really happy to join the spice party. I am considering buying some of this.

I’m surprised you got no lemon from this, it should be the main note aside from the lavender (it’s a lemon/lavender blend). I’ve had a different lemon/lavender blend and did notice the lemon wasn’t as strong in this one on the rooibos base as the other (the other isn’t vegan so…) but I could taste it. I always find the lavender is never very strong in these… I always add just a little bit more from my stash, heh.

Todd

Yeah, that is odd. But there were a lot of flavors to pick out, and I did really enjoy it.
