drank Pumpkin Spice Brulee by Teavana

I wasn’t sure about this one at first when I ordered it online, but it was such a great deal since the 2 OZ price was less than a to-go cup in store and I really wanted to try it.

Dry leaves smell really spicy and remind me of pumpkin pie (obviously). The taste of the infused tea is actually pretty good and I might even order some more! I didn’t need to put more than a teaspoon per cup of water to get a great flavor. In the list of ingredient there is chocolate but I didn’t notice it so maybe it just makes the flavors more “round”.

It is a great tea not only for fall but for all year long. I really liked it and will drink it again and possibly buy some more after the amount I have will be depleted.

Flavors: Autumn Leaf Pile, Cloves, Nutmeg

I was in a hurry this morning and didn’t read the name on the sample I had, nor the instructions to infuse it: I just didn’t have time. I put about 1.5 teaspoon in my tumbler with hot water and infused it while I was putting my winter boots, mitts, scart, hat and coat (It was -35°C this morning so better be prepared!). I’m sure my tea didn’t infuse the recommended time but I still took out my strainer and I went outside.

On the bus I opened my tumbler to take a sip and as I removed the lid, I smelled the tea for the first time. The aroma coming from there was just what I needed on this freezing morning. So I took a sip (and obviously burnt my tongue as always because these tumblers stay too warm too long) and it was heeeaaaavvveeeennnn! I never loved a cinnamon tea like this! Normally cinnamon tea taste as if you were cheving a cinnamon stick (wood) but this one tastes just like those little cinnamon hearts you have on Valentine’s Day :D Which is why I think DT should have named this one Cinnamon Hearts instead of the Pu’erh one…

Even If my tea did not infuse the recommend time and if I didn’t put the recommended amount, it was super flavory! So I’m guessing that when you prepare it right, it must be even better! I will definitely buy a big quantity of this one for my cupboard!

drank Forever Nuts by DAVIDsTEA

Everybody is talking about Forever Nuts! I always wondered why this tea was so popular and, since I got the chance to try it today, I understand why now!

I have never been a fan – or should I say that I have always been afraid – of nutty teas because they always smell so sweet and I don’t like super sweet teas. But the thing is I never took the time (or never really had the bravery) to taste one. So when I saw Forever Nuts in my 24 Days of Tea Advent Calendar, I was kind of happy that I would have the chance to try it :) Of course, when I smelled the dry leaves, it seemed really sweet (almost like a dessert) but I did not stop there so I brewed a cup. The liquor has the same smell as the dry leaves. But when I tasted it, I don’t know what kind of dessert it reminded me of, but the flavors were great! And the best thing is it wasn’t too sweet so I could enjoy it! :D

I was very impressed by this tea and I really loved it! Of course it can’t beat Alpine Punch, but if I run out of the latter during the year, I know I can always get Forever Nuts to comfort me.

I got this tea today in my 24 days of tea advent calendar from DT. I was super excited to try it as I love blueberries but I never found a blueberry tea that I found super tasty. The smell of the dry leaves (and fruits) is really attractive and the color of the brew is….light purple-ish blue (duh!).

So now for the taste… I really enjoyed this cup! It was tasty and smooth and you could taste the blueberries. One thing I don’t like though, like all the other blueberry teas, is the aftertaste of «dried» blueberries instead of «jam» blueberries. I know this tea is called Blueberry Jam, but I don’t taste the sweetness of the jam in there.

Overall, I enjoyed this tea by its taste and aroma, but the best blueberry tea has yet to be discovered.

drank Goji Pop by DAVIDsTEA

I had this tea for a while but I never took the time to write a review. I bought this tea this summer because I needed a good tea to drink ice cold and I thought this one would give me exactly what I want. Fist time I tried it, I wasn’t impressed. It didn’t taste much anything… But then I realized that you needed 2 tsp for a hot tea, so 4 for an iced one., which is a lot of tea considering most of the time you you only need about half this quantity. So I tried it with more. It tasted better but it’s still a little weak. The flavours are not strong enough for me.

Around this time of year, because it’s so chilly outside, I prefer my teas to be super hot! So I gave this tea another try. I find it better hot and I like it, but I don’t love it. There is something odd about the taste but I don’t know what it is.

Overall, iced or hot, I find that this tea is somehow weak and it would need something to make it pop! I like it and will finish what’s left of it, but I won’t buy it again.

After trying a couple chocolate flavoured teas and being disappointed, I was scared of trying this one and not like it. I had read many reviews about this tea and people seemed to whether like it alot or not at all so I couldn’t know if I would like it or not until I tried it.

I went to DT yesterday and smelled the dry leaves and I was surprised to notice the great dark chocolate smell instead of milk chocolate that you normally get for flavoured chocolate teas. I didn’t notice the chilis though. I ordered a tea to go and the smell of the hot beverage was very pleasant. And now what to say about the taste? A first sip and….Heaven! I finally found a chocolate flavoured tea that I like! I think that the fact that the notes are more like dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate is what I like the most. And the chilis and peppers are barely noticable so it blends well and gives this tea a super great flavor!

After getting home I made a second steep with the tea bag and the flavors were still really great. I will definitely get this tea for my cupboard.

This is a great tea! I find it can be really hit or miss with chocolate teas and I also find the ones with dark chocolate tend to be better!

I was so excited to try this tea but didn’t have a chance to until now. So this morning I finally had a cup and was thrilled when I smelled the infusion! It had sone really nice smells. But then when I tasted it…. EWW. The only thing I could taste was the honeybush (I believe) with its earthy flavour. I was then so disappointed because I was sure I was going to enjoy this one… I still have enough to make a second brew so next time I will try it with milk and sugar, but I’m not overexcited about it.

Caroline

UPDATE: I tried it with some frothed milk and honey and it’s actually delicious! I would not drink a cup a day, but occasionally. I might buy some of this tea after all!

drank Alpine Punch by DAVIDsTEA
16 tasting notes

I stopped by DT yesterday to get some refills and of course try some of their winter collection teas! At first, I tried their White Chocolate Frost and I was really disappointed… So I tried another tea to cheer me up. I chose Alpine punch as I was curious and never tried it before. I was scared I might not like it because there was almonds in it and nutty teas are not what I prefer, but I decided to give it a try anyways.

As I always do, I smelled the dry tea at first and liked it. I was scared though that it could be too sweet for me but I still ordered a cup. Then, when I recieved it I smelled the infusion and again, I liked it. So I took a sip and actually tasted this tea. I was amazed how good it was :) The almonds were powerful enough to taste like a dessert but not too much to feel like you just chewed a bunch of nuts. It’s sweet enough and doesn’t need any additives. There are some teas that after one cup you have enough, but not this one, I could definetly drink more than one cup a day! Of course, I would keep it only for the cold seasons as I feel like it’s a comforting tea.

Overall I was extremely satisfied with this tea and for sure I will want it in my pantry! I don’t know why I was scared of tasting it (mostly beacause of the almonds) but I’m glad I did because I like it a lot ;)

I stopped by DT yesterday to smell and taste some of their winter collection teas. As I am a fan of mint chocolate, when I saw this one in store I tought “OMG! This is going to be soooo goooood!”. So obviously I tried it! My fist reaction was that I tought there must have been a mistake. I did’t taste at all the chocolate, only the mint and it actually tasted just like normal mint herbal infusion. Of course I was really disappointed. I like herbal mint teas, but when you expect to have a chocolaty minty taste and you don’t get it, you’re not as satisfied…

This black has a subtle sweetness to it, and the caramel isn’t that much present, but just enough to taste the “brulé”. It might be preferable to drink it around Christmas time rather than Halloween, but it reminds me of the sweet little caramels :)
