Growing up, I drank licorice tea all the time. This is my first time trying the version from Stash. I’m happy to report that it tastes like the flavor I love and expect. I do not like licorice mixed with real tea, but as an herbal, it’s so lovely. It’s sweet on its own, it pleasantly coats your mouth, the flavor is strong. I’ll say that I didn’t notice where the “spice” comes in. Maybe the slight warming in the mouth is from a hint of spice… But anyway, it’s been a few years since I’ve had a licorice tea on my shelf, and I’m happy for its return!

You may be one of the only other people on Steepster I’ve seen besides myself and Derk that likes Licorice Root! (It seems to be one of those ingredients along with Hibiscus and Stevia that seems to be universally abhorred around here, heh). I love it, too! (I also like fennel and anise which have quite licorice tasting notes to them!) I’ve never had this tea, though I did have a nice licorice spice blend from T2 once, and my favorite sore throat tea, Margaret’s Soother from TeaSource, is peppermint, clove, and licorice root, and it’s amazingly tasty, such a simple blend but each comes out just right (and if you do have a sore throat, the mix of menthol/licorice and touch of clove really is such a nice balm).

Licorice so good! (And stevia and hibiscus are also good :P ) I always had Traditional Medicinals Throat Coat growing up. I’ll have to try those others if I come across them! It’s always fun to see the different combos brands come up with.
