1184 Tasting Notes

I used up the last of this sample.
I love yunnan blacks and this one is delicious. This is the first Yunnan Sourcing tea I have tried, so I am happy to try this sample. I will have to order from them sometime after I sipdown all my Butiki.
The golden needles are beautiful. This tea is smooth and complex. I taste notes of honey, malt, cocoa, and slight sweet potatoe. The mouthfeel is thick and delicious.
I resteeped at 4 minutes and it was just as delicious.

This oolong is not as sweet as I was expecting it to be (judging by the name). It was smooth caramel with nutty/woodsy notes. The oolong not base is fairly decent. The mouthfeel is silky with a slightly sweet aftertaste. It is a fairly enjoyable tea. However, there is something that is just kind of “blah” for me, kind of plain and boring for some reason. I am not sure why, because usually I really enjoy this flavour profile. IDK.
Resteeped for 4 minutes and it was much the same.

I would say that this tea is more of a citrus/berry tea than tropical (as Jillian mentions). It isn’t overly floral, but I am not a big fan of rose in teas. I picked out most of the rose petals/buds but to me I just can’t get the Rose out of my head. The flavours don’t really meld that well together either. Oh well, I can’t love every tea…that would be very very bad on my credit card!
I’m glad I got to try it.

I really enjoy the pairing of chocolate and pu’erh. and who I am kidding, I love chocolate. This tea is more of a dark chocolate though, I didn’t find it sweet. There wasn’t any meringue pieces in my scoop though so that might have something to do with it. I don’t know if I would label this as “truffle” though.
I really enjoyed this one. I didn’t find the flavouring to be too strong, which is nice sometimes.
I think I would add this tea to an order if I made one to Tea Desire. I have only tried one other tea from there I think.

The bag was not marked with the year, so I just guessed that it was this entry considering that this is the one that is on the website (I think). So I hope this is in the right place.
This smells really earthy, and I was a little worried that it was going to taste “too” earthy for me. This was not the case, the earthy mushroom notes were there, but not overwhelming. There was also sweet, creamy notes. I found there to be a slight wood aftertaste. Delicious. It resteeps very well. The second steep was 6min, and then I forget after that.
On to the wish list it goes.
Preparation
This is a bit of a “kick in the pants” tea. It is bold and a bit astringent. I am not sure exactly what base this tea has, but it is just a smidgen fruity. I kind of drank this in a hurry and should have paid closer attention to tasting notes.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get much cream.
Maybe next time, lower temp and less brew time?
Preparation
I have had this a couple of times this week and I think the mocha has gotten a little less robust with time, leaving the butterscotch and hazelnut to become the most prominent notes. This makes me happy because I am not a big coffee fan. The White Rhino base is of course amazing, light and creamy.
This tea is even more delicious and decadent with some brown crystal sugar. I might as well REALLY enjoy the last few cups of this that I have left.
I am glad to have this back in my cupboard. It is so unique and different!
I am still unsure how to describe the taste though. I have never had sea buckthorn. It is bitter and sweet at the same time if that makes sense. It reminds me a little bit of chokecherry or Saskatoon berries maybe. It has a nice creamy aftertaste.
Preparation
That sounds delicious.
Sea buckthorn shows up a lot in higher end cuisine in Montreal. I think it may be one of the current foodie hot new things. I have had it in savoury dishes and found it extremely tart and a bit bitter. I liked it as a culinary accent. I think I would like sweetened too.
Oh, I meant that the berries themselves are very sour, so the tea must have been sweetened with something else. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippophae
Thank you for your kind offer. Let’s see which way the TTB is going. I do already have a ton of teas to sample, so this is not something we need to worry about, but thank you.
Sad sipdown :(
I think I enjoyed this tea more as it aged because the banana became less “banana” and more general sweetness. The toffee and coconut are a surprisingly good pairing. And of course, I enjoyed the premium Taiwanese Assam base.
Goodbye you delicious tea
