This was bought on a whim from my grocery store in a little sampler. They really know how to reel me in. A mint tea, a plum tea, and a raspberry Earl Grey? How could I leave the store without it?
Anyway, the scent of this stuff is enough to make me jerk my head back. That is some seriously strong peppermint! It almost reminds me of minty alcohol, like Fernet Branca. I know it’s just a bagged Moroccan Mint, but it seems like something special.
The flavor does not disappoint. The green tea content keeps it from being too strongly minty, adding a buttery and satisfying calm. But the mint content is very fresh tasting and leaves my mouth very cool. It tingles as I breathe, and has a sort of creamy aftertaste that makes it strangely addictive. I keep coming back for another sip. And a refill. I’m already down to one bag!

in my tea emergency status, I threw a bag of this in a bottle of water, shook it like crazy, and after an hour I had a yummy mint iced tea! Perfectly refreshing, and bagged teas are so good and quick when making an emergency cold brew, due to the size of their leaves. So yep, happy!
the flavour is light mint, a little I dunno.. Muddled? Not crisp, but refreshing, and a nice slightly sweet tea base that needs no additives.

A nicer mint tea than I remember. I find myself reaching for it when I’m feeling slightly stressed and needing a bit of a break. I enjoy this tea with just a hint of sugar. It helps highlight the mint without masking the flavor of the green tea.
I’m used to mint teas being very minty and fresh on the palate. While this tea may refresh the palate a bit, it’s flavor was far too subdued for my tastes.
The inclusion of stevia leaves takes the bite out of the mint I think, which disappointed me.
Overall I try not to drink too many bagged teas. The quality and flavor just doesn’t live up to what I am used to. If Zhena’s offered a loose variant of this I’d be willing to give it another go.
As it is, this tea was just ‘ok.’
I got one of those Zhena’s Gypsy tea samplers from World Market, four flavors in a cute stackable metal tins, one lid. Yes, I am a sucker for packaging. But I also thought it was a good price to try four flavors of tea from a company I haven’t tried yet. It included Ambrosia Plum, Raspberry Earl Grey, Italian Chamomile, and this one. I’m done with the rest of them, so I am trying to finish this up to use the tin for other goodies!
It’s mint. I’m not a fan of hot mint drinks. The only mint I consume is breath mints. Well, and the mint leaves in a mojito, but I’m not really consuming the mint leaf, just its juices as it’s crushed in the glass for my drink. So in that sense, mojito is almost a mint tea, just cold with some added “enhancements”.
Still, I don’t like mint teas. It smelled okay, like Doublemint gum, but it tastes like mint tea to me. Even oversteeped, I didn’t taste a bitter note, and the mint aftertaste does linger on the tongue. It’s not unpleasant, I just don’t care for mint tea.
But I will say, Zhena’s has a great little container here.
Meh. Not bad nor good. More of my Christmas gift sampler. I’m detecting a spicy note in this that I tasted in the other Zhena’s sampler. Celeryish again. My common sense tells me no one would put that in a mint tea. But it bites the sides of my tongue and lingers just like that.
