From Zen Tea

Marzipan in a cup! Sweet almond with cherry-like notes. Excellent nutty finish is complemented by almond pieces and mallow flowers. The cup is exceptionally fresh with tongue pleasing herbal notes balanced by the slightly bitter profile of almond.

This is from my swap with Mandy. Must try all the almond teas! :D The smell is not terribly enticing, it has that alcoholic “flavoring” smell that tells me nothing, lol! Steeped about 1.5 tsp for 5 minutes in boiling water.

Mmm, the brewed aroma is definitely marzipan! Yummmm! I was fully prepared to be disappointed by this tea, but it defied my low expectations! The flavor is mostly sweet almond extract or marzipan, which I adore. There’s definitely a cherry element here, though. It’s like Jergens lotion! Lol. In the best way possible! I did add sugar to mine. The rooibos taste comes out a little bit near the end, but it’s definitely not very strong.

Pleasantly surprised! :D

I wasn’t too impressed, I guess I’m not much for very almondy teas, so I’m more than willing to send you the last ~30g

Cameron B.

That’s kind of you, but I really don’t need more tea right now! :P

This was actually pretty good. I am not a huge fan of rooibos, but I wanted something caffeine free from the HHTTB Round 3 and this was one of the few that was that also sounded good. It smells very cherry to me in dry leaf form, but doesn’t retain that much of the cherry once brewed. It was nice and the mulch taste was fairly well masked, but not something I would add to my cupboard.

Samples-Only Small TTB

I was really hoping this would be like Red Rocks from The Tea Spot. I love that tea. I was comparing this tea to that one the whole time. I found this one much less creamy and sweet than that one is. I enjoyed it, but not as much as Red Rocks. It does taste like almonds.

I think that was my problem with this one, it does taste like almonds, but that’s about it. I was hoping for/expecting more depth to it.

Cheri

Yeah, there’s no depth. There’s not enough marzipan flavor. There’s not anything to it except almond and rooibos.

Here’s Hoping traveling teabox – Round 3

I thought I would like this a lot more than I am as I tend to really enjoy rooibos blends with almond in them. This one is only ok. It just doesn’t seem almond enough for me and there’s almost something sour about it. I added a bit of sweetener, but that didn’t really help. Maybe it’s the cherry notes? I don’t know – something about it, though. Just not for me.

The dry leaf of this smells JUST like almond extract! So yummy. The smell is less strong once steeped, but definitely still there. I’ve never tried an almond marzipan, but I can say that this is sweet and delicious and almondy. Yum!

Thank you 221tea for this lovely sample. I love dessert teas and this is very nice. I smell the almond well and the rooibos somewhat less in the dry tea. The taste is sweet almond and a small amount of cherry. I (as always) have to try it with a tiny bit of my favorite vanilla stevia. It brings up the almond and cherry both. I am worried that I have gotten too use to the sweet teas and will have trouble when I get the Butiki Educational Traveling Tea box. Will I be able to appreciate the subtleties of “good” teas? I really hope so and I promise not to add stevia to the “good stuff”.

Hey, there’s no wrong way to enjoy tea. You don’t hear people not putting toppings on their burger or pizza so they can enjoy the “real deal” :)

Suziqzer

I agree with keychange! Enjoy your tea however you like. If vanilla stevia takes the experience up a notch… endulge!!

Thanks! It’s nice to get validation. :-)

221tea

I would love to take credit for sending you this tea, because it sounds lovely, but alas, it didn’t come from me. :) I have not mailed my package out yet because I am waiting for my small baggies to come in.

Oooo .:( That should have been a thank you to Delirium Frogs. :(

Shadowfall

Lol. I do the same thing with my tea. I can’t seem to drink most of them without adding some sort of sweetener (usually truvia). Lol. All of the teas I tried from the Butiki TTB I tried without sugar first just so I could compare them better. Then I usually added some sweetener to the cups afterwards just to see what they’re like, especially if it was something I considered maybe looking for in the future. Lol.

That sounds like a plan!

DeliriumsFrogs

I’m really glad that 221tea didn’t send this to you, ONLY because I’d feel awful if I sent you a sample you just received from someone else! ha!
So happy that you liked it…. and drink tea any way you want! That’s what makes it so fun and personal. :)

Thank you Dexter3657 for sharing a sample of this. It is 100% marzipan. Smooth and nutty with an almost cherry-like essence. Quite delicious. I am not sure if I would stock this just because I don’t know how often I would reach for this flavor due to personal tastes but I would not turn away a cup if offered.

This one didn’t really live up to its name and description for me. I couldn’t really taste the “sweet almond with cherry-like notes”. It wasn’t horrible, but I expected a deeper and richer almond flavor. (I probably won’t buy this one again, but if it were given to me, I would drink it.)
