White Peach

What is going on?! I swear I have seen reviews for this tea before, yet for the life of me I could not locate it on Steepster! Anyone have any ideas?!

Anyhow, I was a bit apprehensive to try this tea. Normally a peach-flavoured white should sound quite appealing, but for some reason, I expected it to taste disgusting. Perhaps because I had White Pear from Adagio, which tasted like play-dough. Either way, I decided it was time to get over that and try it! What an excellent decision! The aroma is creamy, which reminds me of Persimmon’s Coconut Creme (which is amazing), and there’s a light hint of actual fresh peach! The flavour completely does not disappoint, either. A delicious, light, creamy white base paired with absolutely fabulous notes of fresh peach and what is coming off to me as fresh apricot. Oh man. I almost wish I had more than just a sample of this tea (aside from the problem of having too much tea in general).

If you are a fan of peachy teas, and like bai mu dan, this is definitely a tea to try! It reminds me of a sparkling peach drink I’ve had at Christmas on occasion (minus much of the sweetness and the fizz). So by that, I mean, it’s pure essence of peaches. Yummmmm!

ETA: Second infusion is a bit lighter, and almost a touch playdoughy, though that could be a consequence of letting the leaves sit overnight. There’s still peachy goodness though! I won’t take this to a third infusion, however.

Having tried many of The Persimmon Tree’s teas – they have a couple that are more centered around the tea, with light flavoring accenting the tea – White Peach is one of them. If you enjoy a good white peony/bai my dan, this is up your alley.

Iced, however, White Peach is a monster of flavor – peachy, lightly floral and sweet. I can see this tea being a staple for me in the summer, very yummy!

This one was a little too artificial peachy for me. Or maybe I just don’t like peach teas? I’ve found I’m pretty particular with fruit-flavored teas. Some I like, some I don’t. This one was not my favorite, but I’m sure others would like it. I did like the white tea base more than I like black tea as a base for peach. It probably would be great iced. I noticed it was a little perfume-y too, like others have said. Kind of like how Della Terra’s perfect pear tea is perfume-y. Glad I got to try it, but I like white guava better!

This is the second of the Persimmion Tree’s teas that I have had the opertunity to sample. I’m a huge fan of peach and enjoy a good cup of white peony (Bai MuDan) on occasion so I hoped this would be a hit with me.

I had my first cup of this early this morning and tried it hot, using 1 teaspoon per 8 oz. I wasn’t blown away by it, but did enjoy it. I resteeped this once and while still enjoyable, it had lost all of the peach flavor. I don’t think that it will hold up to a third steep. My second cup was using 2 teaspoons per 8 oz and I preferred it that way because it was less delicate and I could taste the peach more.

I decided to use the rest of my sample to make a really small batch of iced tea and the flavors really shine this way. I think that they light floral flavor from the Bai MuDan works really well with the peach flavor.

One day my palate will be sophisticated enough so that I don’t have to add sweetener to everything, but until then…

I tried this hot unsweetened and I could barely taste the peach, but I did taste the buttery notes of the white tea. I made this at work where I can’t control the temperature and it was a little bitter. Maybe it will perform better with my variable temperature kettle.

When I added sweetener, it was much more pleasant. It is actually lighter in peach flavor than the Adagio version. I can see some people preferring this one due to the lightness of the peach. I had brought a whole bunch of tea samples to work so that I could drink based on my mood, but I think I’ll stick to greens, blacks and oolongs and reserve whites for home when I can control the temp.

It’s cold. It’s raining. The furnace is running. I checked the calendar and it’s the middle of May even if I can’t tell it. Peach tea just says summer to me. So closing my eyes and pretending. Steeped this up and hot it is a light flavorful peach and white peony. Very pleasant. Very relaxing. Halfway through the cup I realized I was late for an appointment and had to abandon the tea. When I got home I decided to go ahead and taste it. Very happy I did. Once the heat leaves the cup the peach begins to jump and shout. This becomes the summer thirst quenching peach tea I wanted today. Cold and nasty outside but it’s summer in my den. This begs for ice.

I really enjoyed this, but I admit I enjoy all white peach teas pretty much. I would absolutely repurchase, though this isn’t particularly unique for this company, if I were ordering other things that were more unique as well.

Hot brewed this extra strong and poured over ice. Excellent! I love the lighter flavor of the white tea even more than the traditional black base peach iced tea :)

This tea is just okay. I’m starting to think that although I like stone fruit in tea, maybe not peaches by themselves. The peach is muted and flat in this tea. There is a good balance between the peachy flavor and the tea itself. It’s solid – just not for me.
