From The Persimmon Tree Tea Company

A wonderfully smooth blend of organic black loose leaf tea and sweet vanilla bean. This creamy tea is great hot or cold with a spoonful of honey or rock sugar.

A very nice vanilla bean tea! A good black base that is fairly strong with a lovely french vanilla flavor! I really do love The Persimmon Tree Tea Company. I have only sampled a few flavors that are not my style but that is a personal taste thing. Most of their teas have been very satisfying. You have to try their Mandarin Silk! This one is no exception. I am choosy when it comes to both chocolate and vanilla flavorings and I really do like this one! It is great on its own but I have added a little German Rock Sugar because I have a sweet tooth right now (always).

You’re just going to keep on trying teas that sound good to me, aren’t you?!

Azzrian

Kit you MUST order from them! Seriously – the reward points build up SO fast that you can place one fair order and as long as you review the teas on their site you get points (like verdant) and they build SO fast! I got three teas two 2 oz and 1 4.5 ounce for under 11.00 FREE SHIPPING – then I got another 2 ounce for 59 cents! The teas are really good – a few I was not too found of but most I have really enjoyed ! Give them a try! I really love White Guava, Mandarin Silk, and this one. I still have a lot more to try and they always send several free samples WHICH you also can review unlike Adagio where you can’t review and get points for samples!

Kittenna

Oh wow. Well I think you sent me one, if not more than one sample from them. I’ll check them out! You seem to be pretty impressed :)

Azzrian

Their teas are not the most complex creations on earth – I mean they can’t be compared to say Tevivre or Verdant but then I have only tried their flavored teas and not their straight.

Kittenna

Gah, another company with horrendous Canadian shipping. $24? Really

Azzrian

Seriously? Ugggggg well you know what you can do! :)

Kittenna

Definitely was thinking about it!! No more ordering until I’m back from holidays though. I’m already worried that things are going to arrive while I’m gone, and stay cooped up in their packages for two weeks… I think I have 3? things en route right now, Amanda’s nicely going to hang onto my stuff (when it all arrives) so that problem doesn’t arise…

Azzrian

Oh good we don’t want your babies out in the heat that long!

Kittenna

Azzrian – would you like to earn the points by referring me? Not sure what that entails, but you may as well get some $$ (since I’ll probably end up placing an order eventually).

Azzrian

I would love to but didn’t know they had a referral program! I will go check that out!
Thanks!

momo

One of you can refer me too, I think I have to try them based on this points system!

Azzrian

Oops deleted that by mistake! Let Kat have it so she has a good start on her first order! :)

Kittenna

Thanks Azzrian! You won’t get points until my first order, but I will make one…! Eventually :D And probably send it to you :D

Azzrian

Works for me and I can send you more goodies when I forward the package your way! Amanda is welcome to have hers sent here too and I can get it to both of you via you right Kit? If she wants to do that anyway.

Kittenna

Amanda is luckily American! Indigobloom is my Ontario tea buddy :D

Azzrian

Ohhhh okay. I have the Durrs today.

TassieTeaGirl

White guava? Wow… The french vanilla also sounds lovely.

Azzrian

I think I like the white guava even more than this one – but apples to oranges of course one is white one is black BOTH are good.

Thank you Azzrian for your awesome kindness in the holiday tea package you sent me! This was the first tea I tried.
Interestingly, it reminds me of coffee. Which is not a bad thing because I have been kind of craving coffee lately… it feels so wrong to say that haha but I really don’t need it. Its just I miss the creaminess of a cup of coffee. And that’s only because I have to put so much cream in to mask the awful taste of the coffee itself. Mostly its the amazing smell that gets me..
Anyway, this tea is pretty good with milk and sugar. If I get a stupid coffee craving, I’d go for this one. Its quite strong as well.

Azzrian

LOL awesome glad you enjoyed it!

Vanilla is probably one of the most basic tea flavors, but surprisingly I’ve tried almost no vanilla teas! In fact, my first was Della Terra’s Cafe Vanilla in the 12 days of Christmas swap. I don’t know why I’ve kind of avoided vanilla, maybe because it’s just so basic I always get drawn to fancier and more exotic blends. But sometimes you want a cup of simple comfort!

Dry, this tea smells so scrumptious. Like baking! There are big chunks of vanilla pod in there which is a good sign, along with some almond slivers. Steeped it tastes, unsurprisingly, like vanilla bean ice cream. The vanilla is light though, not overpowering in fact I expected it to be a lot stronger. There’s a nice toasty, nutty flavor from the almonds and it makes me think of sugar cookies for some reason while I sip this. The black base comes through nicely, I think this would be an excellent evening blend! Thanks to The Persimmon Tree for this sample.

I received this sample from the Persimmon Tree today and figured I’d get right down to business with checking it out. I love a good black and rather enjoy vanilla teas as well these days!

I steeped this one for 4 mins – and there is no real sense of the coconut in this one which makes me a happy camper. Instead what develops as I sip this one is a black tea with a subtle vanilla flavour to it. This is not a vanilla tea, rather is it a black tea with vanilla notes to it. I quite enjoy that change as I’m used to OMG vanilla teas that lose the actual taste of the tea.

In other news…I’m trying this whole blogging thing out. I’m TRYING to get around to writing something every day, though that’s certainly not really happening yet. someday though…someday. I might even manage to figure out where i’m going with it.

TeaLady441

So how did the blogging thing work out for you? I just recently re-joined Dreamwidth so I can go on and on about nothing and post cat pictures. You know, the important things. :D

Sil

It worked….and then I just got too busy. :(

Thank you Dhart1214 for this sample tea!

Oh well now. I have tried all along to look for the good in every tea I drink.
Looking, Looking, Looking…

I won’t rate this tea. I can’t. For some reason the black tea makes my mouth feel like cat fur and the vanilla tastes strange.

I’m so sorry. I’ve failed to find anything good other than the temperature of the tea.

azzrian Thanks!

I’ve had this twice now and there are vanilla bean flavors in there but it seems like MORE than just that. I agree with some of the other tasting notes mentioning coffee hints and I also picked up on Nuttiness. Overall it was good but I feel it should have a name that is either more creative or has additional wordage because I picked up on different flavors in addition to the Vanilla. Not sure. Maybe it’s just me. I also could taste a sweet-wood, barky type flavor on the tongue, too, more-so when infusing a bit too long. I could pick up MORE on the vanilla/bean in the 2nd infusion.

Pretty good, tho!

Azzrian

I agree it is a good cup and more than just vanilla!

So, I tried this one twice before logging it. The first time, I steeped it for 3 minutes, and the flavor was really weak, so I decided to do a longer steep because I couldn’t tell if it was me or the tea! It’s the tea.

I did a 4 minute steep, and although there is some nice flavor peaking out, it’s barely there. The smell of it puts me off a little because it reminds me of Della Terra’s love in a cup….not sure why that is. The taste is definitely not the same, but it’s a pretty weak vanilla taste. Even the black tea base isn’t very strong. And I can’t figure out, for the life of me, why there are sliced almonds in a vanilla tea (not sure I noticed their flavor though…seeing a pattern here?). I wonder if this one requires a really long steep? Probably won’t ever find out though, because I’m out of tea to experiment with, and I most likely won’t go out of my way for this one. I think I liked periwinkle more. I can see why some get obsessed over finding the perfect vanilla tea now…there are so many and none of them are the same!

I picked up a sample of this one from Persimmon Tree a while back, and was looking for something different to take to work this morning, and there was enough in my sample to allow a full thermos of this plus an additional cup (or more) under more ideal brewing conditions!

There’s essentially no aroma to my cup of tea… and the flavour is absurdly light! Believe it or not, I could hardly tell this and 52teas’ Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal apart. Both just tasted like generic, sweetish but mostly flavourless black teas. As this one cooled, though I could catch the french vanilla notes a bit more. However… way, way too weak. I guess I’ll have to try this one again!

Still my favourite vanilla tea. Darkly flavoured (if that makes sense), very malty but nicely vanilla. I didn’t feel like anything that was on top of my desk so I went spelunking in my treats drawer and found this and I haven’t had it in….a small forever. It was time, especially after the disappontment of earlier. Still very fond of this tea. Maybe if I find some coconut and put it in myself I can make myself a fantastic coconut that way. Does anyone know who might sell giant flakes of coconut as a tea ingredient?

tea-sipper

I just found this, never tried it. https://www.svtea.com/Coconut-shredded-organic/productinfo/H0075/ SV also has a coconut black tea.

tea-sipper

Oh wait, you wanted giant flakes of coconut…

Kittenna

^^ Yes, that’s what I was thinking too. Or if you’re so inclined, get toasted coconut flakes. Yum.

Starfevre

YES, that is what I want. Thank you all, I will be…finding….and then getting from….actually probably amazon but wev.

This is a sweet treat of a tea! The black tea base is bold but not bitter (always appreciated). The vanilla flavor shines through heavenly. Also great iced! :)
