Just the thing for a military man’s flask
Pour one cup of strong black tea, add rum and stir.
I had this whilst out at a cafe: Cafe Meso at Simply Organoleptic, McLaren Vale, SA. Beautifully brewed and presented in a "pot on cup " device.
To review the whole experience, it was near perfect. Unless they want to wear frilly aprons and serve form silver teapots, it couldn’t get more authentic.

This tea, it’s a breakfast tea . It’s 8:30pm and I just felt like I need something strong. It’s bold blend, malty and sweet , with citrus coming fr Ceylon. Some roast and nuts fr Chinese teas. As it cooled some astringency creeps up, but it’s pleasant. I like it a lot. I think I like Two Tigers more. Unfortunately for me Two Tigers are retired. Bring it back,please!
There is a constant argument here at Devotea HQ about whether this tea is a ‘breakfast tea’ or “afternoon tea”. I seem to be losing the battle. Glad you enjoyed it!

It was recently retired and after being retired I still had a bit of stock I sold. I am always willing to re-blend a tea if you can muster up enough people to purchase a whole batch. Bit sadly despite being enjoyed I rarely sold any TT here in the states.
Amazon, how much would we need to buy in order to have you make a batch?

@Terri batches are 5 lbs here at Devotea USA ~25 aka 3 oz packets, so if you get enough converts on steepster for a mass order i’ll blend it up and mail it out to everyone so no one needs to worry about getting my large 1lb bags and splitting them up.
in fact 5 lb batch applies to anything reblended (tea of the months etc)

So this box is a great opportunity to explore some straight blacks and this morning I decided to make the acquaintance of Lord Petersham. He is quite nice. Strong and a touch astringent but in a good way. Unfortunately this tea cooled quite a bit before I tried it given I was searching for classes my sister and I can take this summer (a little while back, we did cake decorating so we are looking for something fun to take now). Perhaps I will have to try another cup before I pass along the box because even cooled, this was very pleasant.
Isn’t having a sister the best? I have three and think it’s awesome.
Sometimes. Other times I really want to kill her. I also have a brother so I know the perks and the negatives of having both.
Thanks for recording your thoughts on Lord Petersham. I have drunk many cups I’ve let go cold of this over the years, but it is certainly best piping hot with a snack.
I will certainly keep that in mind when I brew up a second cup.
Thanks to the Devotea for providing me with this sample tea to try. It’s raining here and I had been wanting something warm and delicious to sip on — caffeine be damned!
This steeps up to be a lighter reddish-brown color. Definitely medium in body and a bit on the mild side. At first sip I was thinking this is a ceylon due to the fruity notes that are present, then I was thinking there was an orange pekeo or perhaps a second flush darjeeling in the mix. Either way, this is a really nice blend for the afternoon. No sign of bitterness or astringency, so this is an easy one to sip on plain but is also good with additions. Lord Petersham is nice but 1910 is still my favorite from the Devotea so far. :)
