Going through my cupboard and deleting a ton of teas I’ve sipped down but not removed yet. I haven’t updated it to the ones I still have in the cupboard, but at least it’s a bit more accurate now.

This is a really old tasting note – I ordered this tea some time around February or March, and haven’t had it in months.

I remember that it smelled like strawberries and chocolate and cream. The taste was very, very light. It was pretty, but didn’t taste like much at all. And what it did taste like was artificial.

I’m leaving the rating off because it’s been so long, but it’s definitely not a tea I really want to try again.

I must have received this tea in a trade as I’ve never set foot inside a Teavana store (their reputation proceeds them). That said, this was quite a nice flowering tea that had a nice strawberry scent and looked quite attractive when it opened in the water – though it was maybe not as showy as some flowering teas I’ve seen. The white tea flavours were delicate and slightly nutty and slightly vegetable with the fruity strawberry notes woven throughout. It also re-steeped fairly well too and never got bitter or astringent no matter how long I kept the blossom in the tea.

I got one of these blooming teas as a gift and I saved it to share with my fiance. Watching the tea bloom was very entertaining and the flowers are beautiful. While it was blooming the scent coming from my press was strawberry. When I was pouring it he even said to “be careful so you don’t crush the flowers”. That made me grin and I re-assured him that I wasn’t even pressing the filter down on my press and that it was just there to preent any loose leaves that came off from floating into our tea.

It didn’t taste much like strawberry. It was very light and relaxing. The smell was awesome. I’m not normally big on white tea, but it was nice. My fiance loved it. I am beginning to think that he loves the lighter teas and he even asked how much these were. We are going to have to get a glass pot and some more of these blooming teas for when we want some nice time together to enjoy tea.

This smells so delicious! A light sweet strawberry flavor and scent. It wasn’t tart at all, and the display was beautiful. The only thing is that it fell apart a little in the water. I put water in first then the tea.

This was the party favor I chose for my best friend’s bridal shower. It was too bad my shipment online didn’t arrive yet, even though I ordered it from China in October… This one is too expensive… cheaper to get it direct from China. Oh well! I can’t wait til that shipment comes in anyway… plus I’m getting another order free since that one didn’t come in.

My very generous Mum recently spent some time in the US, and knowing that I’m a tea-granny, she, bless-her-heart, bought me a whole tin of these blooming teas from Teavana. “Because it’s very fancy there, you know.” Well, we all have our own thoughts about Teavana and just how fancy it may or may not be, but who am I to turn down free tea?

First off, I’m not really an appreciator of blooming teas. I know they’re lovely to look at, but since I do the majority of my tea drinking alone, I kind of feel like the entertainment value a blooming tea provides is wasted on me. And plus, I almost never resteep them, because I’ve usually just consumed a whole pot of tea by myself. Also, I’ve never had one with a taste that’s comparable to a regular loose leaf tea.

This one is no different to me. I should also mention at this point that I quite like Davids Tea’s Strawberry White to fill the fruity/white tea niche in my tea cupboard. So this tea ball is facing some direct competition.

It smells of strawberry candy, which seems promising. It’s a little artificial for my taste, but fine.

I poured the water over the ball, as gently as I could, trying to avoid direct contact. It still fell apart a little, shedding some leaves into the pot.

After the suggested 4 mins, it had bloomed fully (Pretty! Flowers!), and the liquor was a light yellow colour. It was darker than I expected. The strawberry smell had mellowed out, and it was quite pleasant.

The flavour is pretty gentle, and it’s mostly strawberry candy. I don’t really get much white tea, but there is a bit of a floral quality that pokes through.

I don’t think I would have picked this one up on my own, and if I didn’t have a whole tin of them, I probably wouldn’t give it another shot. It might be nice to give as a gift, or to bring out when my Mum comes over, but most of the time, I’d rather drink Strawberry White, which tastes more like strawberries and white tea than this.

Dry This smells wonderfully of strawberries with just a hint of floral and chocolate. It was wonderful watching it steep, it blossomed into a gorgeous flower. As it was steeping I found the floral scent really overpowered everything else. It wasn’t unpleasant, I was just hoping for more of a strawberry scent.

The taste isn’t very strong. I get a very light strawberry taste with a few lingering floral notes.

While this isn’t a tea I will drink all the time, I’ll definitely keep some on hand for the days when I want to watch a gorgeous tea bloom.

okay although this is a decent tea, its a little overrated and a tad overpriced. It is delicate with a hint of strawberry. and when they say undertones…they mean undertones. you can barely taste it unless you add sugar and then if you add sugar it messes up the delecate flavour of the white tea so its a lose-lose situation. personally, i would brew as directed and then put the tiniest amount of sugar in it…..that is if you want it by itself. i love blending it with peach rooibus or with jasmine dragon phoenix pearls. most people are lik" eew jasmine and strawberries!" but since the strawberry presence is so underrated that it actually tastes like a less_vegetal green flavour with a floral undertone. so the jasmine pairs nicely with the slightly floral tastes and it makes for a nice evening brew.

This one was a pleasant splash of color on a wintry day. The kids liked watching the tea bloom at the bottom of the carafe. As it began to bloom it turned the water into the normal light gold color with a hue of subtle red. After steeping a bit, I poured a cup and was surprised but the smell of strawberry and the slight taste of strawberry followed up by the gentle taste of white tea. I’m not normally a white tea kind of person, as it often comes across as too light, and is often overpowered by the accompanying flavor. In this case it was strawberry. I noticed this particular tea can’t steep past it’s allowed time or you can end up with the flavor of a strawberry potpourri which can be a bit off putting. However if you want to get more of that strawberry flavor this might be your best bet. If was different and I enjoyed it more for the aesthetics than the taste. Worth a try though:)

I really loved this tea, I guess it had a slight artificial flavor, but that didn’t keep me from enjoying it. What I loved the most is I am on my 6th pot of tea from using the same flower and I still like the taste. It is good hot or iced. I left the blossom in there for probably too long but it doesn’t effect the taste.

I FINALLY made this tea correctly today. Using Teavana’s Perfect Tea Maker, I steeped this bloom for 3mins at 180F, and the flavor was delicate but definitely present. In the past, I’ve had problems with oversteeping this tea, but I never new how bad of a job I was doing until I did it right! I’ve gotten 4 good steeps out of one bloom today—increasing the steep time by 30 seconds each steep after the first. Sucks that I only figured out how to properly brew this yummy tea when I’m down to my last 3 blooms!
