So I ended up buying a tin of this later on so I could take advantage of double stars. Fun things to note: the tin is really nice, I didn’t think it would be like their regular tins but it indeed is. It came sealed in a bag in the tin, complete with an expiration date on the bag of 2/15 (one year eh?). I also thought it didn’t look like 2 oz so I weighed it in the bag, then I weighed the bag again after I emptied it…there was 2.11 oz in the bag! How exciting.

For some reason it’s much more tart than the stuff I had this morning. I think I probably used a lot more tea though. I’ve kind of lost the little hint of cinnamon that really made it enjoyable.

If they ever start allowing us to mark out these teas I am in trouble.

Like so many other herbals, it smells sweet and fruity but tastes tart. I don’t know why I continue to buy herbals and teas with hibiscus when I know what is in store tastewise. Nonetheless, their sweet smells always sucker me in. This is not as bad as other herbals because the mango/papaya flavors provide a nice contrast but in the end it is just not for me. Perhaps it will serve better in the summertime as an iced tea.

Today’s plan, try this and Kanpe tea to evaluate how close they really are to each other. Kanpe is brewing as we speak and this was my morning cup. I love this tea, I adore the tartness from the hibiscus coupled with the lemon grass (a flavour I am usually not crazy about). I also love that this steeps absolutely forever and just gets better and better.

Now to see what the Kanpe is like compared to it!

I don’t know exactly what this tastes like, but I like it very much. It smells fruity but tastes mostly very tart (from the hibiscus I suppose), but I’ve come to realize I’m one of the few who really like hibiscus. At least I guess so because every time I read comments saying “this is too tart, hibiscus ewww” I’m like “oh this one’s nice”. I guess it’s not very surpriing as I loooove sour candy.

Anyway so it is very tart but also sweet, and I get a note of cinnamon at this end of the sip which is quite nice. I don’t know if I’d buy it again but for now I’m glad I have a 50g bag.

Yvonne

I’m the opposite – can’t stand hibiscus! But I’m glad you liked this tea :)

Meliboum

If we ever swap, you could send me the hibiscus teas you can’t stand and I would send you my rooibos and choconut oolong – I know it’s one of your favorites and I don’t like it too much haha ;)

LOL….

I caved. I had planned on not hitting Teavana’s till the Heavenly sale, but then I caught the email about the sale on certain teas…and of course 2 of the teas on sale were favorites of mine (Opus Rouge and Spiced Mandarin Oolong.) And of course I decided that since I was buying that mind as well buy more Cranberry Singapore Sling (Tastes great with the Spiced Mandarin.)
And Citrus Lavender Sage (Tastes good with many of their teas, though I got it to have with Opus Rouge.) Also got more Dragonfruit Devotion because I was almost out.

Then, because I was informed that I was just a few ounces away of getting the LBS discount, I figured “What the hell.” So got this one.

At first, I was thinking it smelled and tasted alot like Dragon fruit Devotion, and was feeling kind of grumpy about that. But, as I continue to drink it, I am thinking there might be some subtle differences. And, I used significantly less then I usually do with teas, so that maybe a factor as well.

I will have to do a side by side comparison, if they are similar tasting, then I will probably get whichever is cheaper.

Cold-brewed this again, and it’s as good as always. Very tart and fruity on the first steeps descending into something akin to a fakey baked good flavor (if that makes sense). I’m enjoying this one cold so much that I can’t imagine steeping it hot … I just don’t think it would work well. Plus, my fiance also enjoys this one cold. Why change what works?

I’ve been put on a tea-buying freeze until I use up more of the teas in my cupboard. Thanks to my fiance’s desire for iced tea in his lunch, this one is close to being gone. Hooray!

P.S. Despite the tea-buying freeze, my fiance did tell me to go order one of the 16oz Timolinos from DAVIDsTEA after I found out that the new tea canteen things are replacing them. I’m torn between the midnight green and the light blue — any suggestions, tea buddies? Or do I just get one of the 12oz Timolinos in one of the fun new colors? (And, now that I’m thinking about it, when I place my order, the Spring Collection might just fall into my shopping cart and then I’d be forced to get it! Hehehe!)

I wish Teavana hadn’t discontinued this one. It’s got lots of berry flavour and it’s tart, but it’s the good kind of tart that has a lemony note to it, instead of the blah sour water hibiscus tart that I find in so many fruit tisanes and generally dislike. There’s also a very nice cinnamon note that comes out.

I’m almost out and I’ll be sad when I hit the bottom of the bag.

This tastes just like the Tazo Passion tea to me, with a bit less of a hibiscus flavor. I was honestly disappointed with this tea, especially considering I can get the same flavor for half the price elsewhere.

Hi, I just signed up for your site. I was at Teavana yesterday and bought the Passion Berry and made some today and it was bitter. It was on sale, but could it be I used too much, brewed too long? I use the perfect tea scoop from the store as well as the water temp being perfect as I have their device that heats the water . Please advise. I am excited to have found this page!!

I was not planning on purchasing Teavana but their 75% off deal suckered me in. I wish this tea did not have hibiscus in it, but for what it is, it is good. There is a subtle sweetness below the tartness of the hibiscus. Next time, I’ll let it steep for longer.
