I recently gave away a tin of this when I realized I hadn’t opened it, so today I decided to give it a go while I was at work to see if this was a good call. I liked this better than just a straight mint tea, but I wish this was a little more citrus and a little less mint. I did find the lemongrass came out more as it cooled. It’s a nice sipping tea, but the minty aftertaste isn’t something I’m usually after. Not sad this is no longer in my cupboard. I’m learning my lesson with mint.

So, I’m in the habit of making tea packages for people at work who express interest in tea. Mainly because I don’t have many real life tea friends and I aim to convert as many as possible. One of the recipients recently gifted me with samples of tea he’d picked up at Teavana. None of the teas he picked out are ones I would have chosen for myself so hooray on that front!

This is my second time having this tea. First impression was that it was all mint, some green tea, and I couldn’t find the citrus. Seriously, the mint is strong in this one. The tea itself really light, which is perfect for the warmer weather we’ve been having.

I reached for this tonight because I’m feeling terrible. I haven’t had the energy for tea all week, finally felt up to making some today, and then I couldn’t finish the cup. I kept wanting to make the Strawberry Grapefruit Xue Long I was drinking into a tea soda, then it was making me feel nauseous, so I reached for some stomach-soothing mint. Here’s hoping it works on headaches, too.

I really like this one. It’s smooth and very minty. It’s unexpectedly sweet, too. The whole combination is quite soothing. I’m also getting some citrus (faint lemon?) this time around too, which makes me think this would be an awesome sick tea. With some actual lemon slices, maybe some sweetener, I can see this making a kick-ass iced summer treat as well! Nice!

Reasonably pleasant tea. I am enamored with the combo of lemongrass, lemon verbena, and spearmint, but this tea has shown me that it has to be the correct ratio of the 3 flavours with the green tea to really please my palate. It was overall a nice green tea, the flavour was just dominantly spearmint. I’d much prefer a more balanced combination of flavours.

I will finish the little tin of this loose leaf when I am in the mood for a minty tea. I don’t believe I will purchase any more when it is empty though.

Interesting.

This is the 4th and final sampling from the Teavana Green Tea Essentials box set. And yeah, it’s… Interesting.

I’m a big fan of mint in good green tea. I have gone so far as to dry my own fresh mint leaves and add them to my favorite green tea so as to control the amount of each in my brew. I LOVE green tea with a hint of mint. Or even green tea with a lot of mint. But what about mint tea with a supposed but non existent green tea base?

This, yeah. The cool, refreshing taste of spearmint overwhelms the rest of the flavors in this tea. The citrus flavor is provided by lemongrass and lemon verbena, but you hardly get even a hint of it outside the aroma. Which is quite nice.

And that feel…. The tongue feel was more like cough medicine, or some sort of thick, creamy, dense, cool, syrup wrapping my tongue in a spearmint headlock.

I used 3 tablespoons of leaves in my 32 ounce Bodum Assam. After rinsing, I poured 180 degree water over the leaves and let them steep for 2 minutes. I will try a shorter time next time to see if that will bring out some of the others flavors.

The aroma was very promising, as it was clearly a green tea with lemon and spearmint flavors. I just wish the taste matched.

Decent tea, but the mint and lemongrass flavors were a little much for me.

The leaf smells good with some lemon standing out with just a hint of mint. 1 tsp in a tea bag in 8 oz of boiling water. The brewed liquid does not smell as nice as the leaf did. I get green tea and a tad of mint out of this, it’s pleasant.

Thank you to TeaNTeas for the chance to try this.

Another sample I had in store. I wasn’t a fan of the mint, but the citrus flavours were great. I wonder if my aversion to the mint was a seasonal thing – I think that mint works better in the summer iced for me than served warm. Ahh…I can’t wait for summer again :P Now I know how Olaf feels…

I’m on a serious mint kick lately.

This is a nice, mild, pleasant blend. The best I’ve had from Teavana. It’s a good one to drink for comfort.

I remember liking this one quite a bit too. Maybe it will be my go-to mint/citrus green when I finish off the Crazy Mint from RiverTea (sob).

Oh, that will probably be a sad day! But yes. I think Jade Citrus Mint will make a good transition tea until you find a new citrus/mint green love. :D

I have an upper respiratory infection… and a sinus infection. So a warm minty green tea has been nice. I love the lemon verbana in this guy. Really Brightens up the mint flavors.

This tea is very heavy on the mint – a heady rush of peppermint that lingers on the palate and in the nose – but there’s also a slightly unpleasant taste on the back of each sip that I find decidedly unappealing.

I’m not particularly picking up on the citrus flavours, to be honest, and there are definitely many other mint teas that I would choose to brew over this one…so (as many teavana teas go) I’m not all that enthusiastic about this one.
