It’s 3 in the morning and I am mildly lactose intolerant, so I have no clue why I am drinking something with both milk and caffeine. Well, I do know—I saw it in the fridge, realized I hadn’t opened it yet, and some part of my brain though “oh awesome, let’s have this instead of water!” Thanks, brain.
This is one of my guilty pleasures. Yes, it’s not “real” chai by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s so delicious! You can taste the spices for sure, though the tea taste is a little lost under all that sugar. But hey, who cares! It’s tasty, and I really consider this more of a “specialty drink” than actual tea.
So my Mom got a new bike that has assist on it because her knee isn’t working properly. That means that I get her old bike which is fully recumbent unlike my old one which was only semi-recumbent. So I had to learn how to ride hers, it’s like being a kid and starting from scratch. Tonight though I managed to cycle without falling over or needing help, I was sooo proud of myself. Unfortunately that didn’t leave me time to make a real tea so I grabbed this. “I can ride my new bike tomorrow to work, YAAAY!!”
Right on! I have never ridden one of those before but I can imagine how different it must be compared to, say, a mountain bike (which is what I grew up riding).
Oooo, exciting! I think they look so cool. I hadn’t considered that there would be a learning curve to ride them!
It took like 5 times down the driveway before I got the balance. Once you get it down though it’s really easy and fun!

It has a beautiful spicy, almost peppery aftertaste that I love, and it’s not overwhelmingly sweet. To me, this is how (iced) chai should taste.

The boys like a treat when we are away and it is easier than brewing chai the traditional way with spices in a pot etc. I find the mix too sweet for my taste so I always have to add double the amount of almond milk into it (1 part concentrate to 2 parts almond milk). For the convenience not a bad product.
My mom picked up the decaf version of the Chai concentrate and didn’t read the instructions on the box. Thank goodness I was there to tell her that she really needed to add milk or else it would have been way too strong for her. This is the lady that leaves her teabag in for half a minute or less. A full minute if she forgets about it.
I did try this both hot and iced. I liked this iced a lot better than hot. I can’t really taste any tea out of it. Mostly just weaker spices and milk. It isn’t anything special, but it is nice to have in the house when you are weaning yourself off of sodas and when you really want a latte but you are just feeling too lazy to do it yourself.

I haven’t had this in a while because of the calories. Today I just need something somewhat indulgent or I’m going to get something REALLY indulgent. I made it with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I made it cold and poured it over ice. Quite yummy!
I’m still working my way through the TTBs. It is so overwhelming(!) but fun! :-)
I’m helping a friend get her classroom set up for school. I forgot how much work it is for a first grade classroom. One of the problems is that it is actually a first/ second split, so it has all the first grade and all the second grade materials were thrown together. Now the principal is saying they might move her to another room. She starts school on Monday and the principal still can’t decide whether to move her! We may have a busy couple of days!
Oh, gosh….. setting up the entire classroom is enough work in itself let alone having to move! Hopefully all goes well and school starts smoothly for her:]
Ugh. That’s horribly unfair to not have decided what classroom teachers are in yet. I hope they get that settled quickly!
A must if you have a steam wand at your disposal, or if you plan to heat milk for a chai latte! However, as it is concentrate, it will not keep for much more than a week so it should be consumed within that timeframe. Cozy and comforting, perfect for a chilly day!
I like their Chai, but never had their concentrate.
Saw this at the grocery the other day and passed it up. For some reason I thought it was an “add your own milk” concoction.
I like their vanilla version a lot.
@Barb, you do have to add milk. I’m thinking of trying it with almond milk to combat the nausea this inevitably gives me.
My local Target sells cartons for like $7, so it’s definitely worth trying out! It’s tasty, in an indulgent “my kitchen is now Starbucks” sort of way.
IIRC Costco does or did sell a 3-pack which worked out to be quite a bit cheaper. My sister likes(d?) the stuff.
