From Stash Tea

GUAYUSA (gwhy-you-sa) is a rare herbal tea produced from the leaves of a holly tree (ilex guayusa) native to the Amazon Rainforest of Ecuador. Guayusa is naturally caffeinated and has an awakening effect similar to coffee and yerba mate. For this signature blend, we’ve combined Guayusa with lemony herbs and pure lemon oil for a slightly tart, refreshing taste.

BB #1 for today…haven’t been able to get a new hot water source for work so I’m still working on reducing my bagged stash!

This is really good! Surprisingly, even! The Lemon is PERFECT in this! This is a highly flavored guayusa and I like it! If you like Lemon this is dandy tasty!

Oooo! A new guayusa blend. I don’t think I’ve had this one.

This is pleasant. I like the combination of Guayusa with lemon, I think that the lemon really brightens the cup, and the flavor of the Guayusa seems to take very well to it.

This is bright and refreshing, Very sunny tasting on this cold, wet, grey afternoon! And it is certainly helping me shake the doldrums!

Agree with other tasters, that the lemon makes it pleasant, and it’s doesn’t have a chemical off taste, like a lot of bagged lemon teas. Be careful with the caffeine in this in the afternoon. Had a cup around 5:00 p.m. and didn’t get to sleep until 1:30 a.m. I looked into it and guayusa can have as much caffeine as a Red Bull! Great for the morning though.

This is my first time trying a Guayusa tea, and maybe I shouldn’t have picked one that was so flavored. I’m really tasting the lemon, with only a faint herbal undertone. It’s quite a good lemon flavor, a good mix of sweet and tart and relatively natural tasting. I would recommend this to someone looking for a lemon tea if they don’t mind caffeine. I try to limit my caffeine so I probably won’t buy more of this since I can drink non-caffeinated lemon tea instead, but I did enjoy it.
