From Stash Tea

In our most humble opinion, the single best flavor in the world to pair with cinnamon tea is vanilla. There, we said it. But to give this classic combination a tas-tea twist, we added an earthy, light blend of rooibos and chamomile flowers as the base.

While spicy, warm cinnamon and sweet vanilla are the main players in this herbal tea, all the ingredients come together to give you something that tastes just like fall. If you’re interested in turning this delicious blend into a dessert tea, just add some creamer and a little sweetener for a rich treat.

What is rooibos? Rooibos (say it like ROY-boss), or red tea is an indigenous herb of South Africa that is made from the fine needle-like leaves of the Aspalathus linearis plant. When the leaves are cut, bruised, and oxidized, they become a reddish-brown color, explaining why it was named rooibos or “red bush”. The outcome of the process leaves us with a smooth, gentle, earthy flavor that pairs easily with a variety of ingredients. This makes it an ideal base for many caffeine-free tisanes.

I do find the cinnamon a tad sickly sweet, which is dislike. It does taste like real cinnamon though, rather than that artificial flavour. Otherwise, I really like the spices and rooibos, however I wouldn’t mind a stronger rooibos flavour.

Admittedly, I’m not a big fan of Rooibos flavour in most Rooibos based tea. I can taste it in this tea but it doesn’t bother me here. It seems to mingle well with the cinnamon/vanilla combination. I find this tea to be calming and enjoyable. I didn’t buy this tea myself, it was given to me as part of a Christmas gift from a friend. I’m really grateful she got it for me because I don’t think I would have bought it due to the fact that I’ve tried other teas with cinnamon and with vanilla and generally, I’ve been left disappointed but this one lived up to it’s name, having solid flavours. I was pleasantly surprised. Another caffeine-free herbal tea that I can drink at night and not worry about it keeping me up.

This was a rather interesting tea. The smell was somewhat medicinal, so I was a bit concerned, but it tasted good. It was a very mild tea that reminded me of granola – cinnamon, nuts and oats. I think Celestial Seasonings’ Bengal Spice is still my favorite cinnamon tea, but I might end up picking up more of this as it’s a VERY different experience.

It’s exactly as advertised, a warm soothing tea for a cosy evening. The flavor does lack a little though, too much cinnamon and not enough vanilla. I really dig that it’s caffeine free!

Wow this one really impresses me. I have always been skeptical of the desert teas which always seem to need an insane amount of sugar to taste right which defeats the point in my opinion. This one came from my grandmother who got a box of it as a gift and passed it on to me after she was not drinking it. Everything seems just right the cinnamon, vanilla and sarsaparilla blend together to form a nice flavor, personally I could not taste any of the chamomile or rooibos from how nicely they blend together with everything. Which is very significant given that I personally do not like rooibos but I love this tea which has it in the mix.

Pleasant! A bit of sugar (1 tsp, as usual) makes this tea the best stash one I’ve tried. You get a nice hint of both cinnamon and vanilla, though neither is overpowering.

I’m a big fan of Rooibus, so this tea wasn’t that bad. I could definitely taste the sarsaparilla, but not much in the way of Vanilla and the Cinnamon notes were very faint. All in all, kind of meh.

As others have mentioned, the rooibos is the predominant flavor, though there is a mellow vanilla and a mellow cinnamon presence. They are just in the background is all. I ordered 100 bags of this over Amazon without ever having tried it before and at first I was regretting my decision. I think the sarsaparilla gives it a weird smell when it is dry. However, once I tried it brewed, I liked it fine and over the past six months or so, it has grown on me. So, will all 100 bags be used? I think so. But, will I be buying this one again? Probably not. It is good enough, but there are other tisanes out there that I prefer to this one.

I like the flavors here, they just seem very weak. I took the teabag out after a few minutes but it was very weak so I put the bag back in and just left it in while drinking it. It’s probably the chamomile that makes it weaker.. chamomile shouldn’t really be with these flavors anyway. I like the idea of these flavors but it needs to taste stronger! Axe the chamomile and it should be a better tea.

The rooibos is too strong… blah ;it over-rides everything else.
