From Seven Cups

Mei (Eyebrow) style tea, named after the dried leaves shape, is traditionally the most popular everyday tea in China. Our certified organic tea grows on Tai mountain near a local Buddhist temple, hence the name Taishan Fo Mei. The local monks drink this tea daily for its robust taste and fresh aroma.

This tea is another good example of a daily-drinker that has moderately above-average complexity and yet is easy to brew, with satisfying simplicity and flavor. Crisp, chestnut-laden vapors, warm mint, and some long lasting bright open-field greenness. Also works well as a cold-brewed summer tea.

Pours a yellow green and has a grassy mint aroma to it. It tastes like it smells. It’s crisp yet mellow and offers a moist grassy taste with subtle mint flavor that becomes apparent as the tea cools. I found some nuttiness in early infusions. Mouth feel is just okay. Very serviceable for everyday drinking, and for what it is it’s quiet good. Steeps quick and is good for several infusions.
