As threatened I made this up with lemonade. For reference: one quart prepared instant lemonade and one quart Turmeric Ginger tea brewed at boiling (the stronger the better). Serve over ice.

This is delicious this way! I mostly taste the lemonade but there’s a spicy ginger kick to it too, and the turmeric makes it aromatic. It should be no problem using the rest of this up soon: two sachets left!

Soooooo NOT a combo I would reach for in a store…but…I’m game…BRING IT ON!

VERY intensely scented/flavored Turmeric AND Ginger…thankfully I can smell a little Orange.

After infusing – the wet mix in my strainer looks much like TOFU SCRAMBLE I have made in the past…ironically one of the ingredients is TURMERIC. Anyhow…the liquid is texture-E. I’m ‘chalking it up’ (no pun intended) to the turmeric. I can smell the ginger mostly.

This tastes of Ginger – overly, intensely, and obnoxiously-so. So-much-so I can’t drink it. It’s very peppery. It’s chalky.

BLAH.

Sorry Rishi…NOT liking this one…

Down the drain – the rest of it goes…

On to the next!

Cofftea

Turmeric is supossed to be SO healthy for you.

TeaEqualsBliss

I know…overall I like turmeric IN stuff like Curry and Tofu, but so far not fond of it in tea…sigh…

Ewa

you are such a liar, that pun was totally intended :P
I’ve never been able to get much taste out of turmeric, I mostly just get chalk out of it as well – I guess that’s why you want to combine it with spices that have more personality and something with a distinctive texture of it’s own.

Cofftea

I just came up w/ a scary idea… LiberTeas wants tomato green tea… How about a Hot Dog matcha… turmeric, tomato (ketchup and mustard) bacon flavoring to echo the hot dog and cucumber and vinegar flavoring to echo pickles…

Cofftea

and don’t forget the dill and onion. Ok, Frank is starting to corrupt me. LOL!:)

inguna

You could perhaps cook with it :)

Jillian

Huh, I was debating whether or not to sample this for for Mike’s tea review blog – I’m glad I gave it a pass in end. D:

My right arm is in a sling right now (thanks, bursitis!) so this will be short (I hope). Ginger is the most noticeable thing here, both in scent and flavor. There is a bit of lemongrass in there, too, but I can’t pick out any orange or licorice. The ginger (and probably turmeric) make this a fairly heavy and dark. It’s different for most herbals I encounter. Kind of like drinking my spice cabinet. But in a good way.

LiberTEAS

:( Sorry to hear about the arm. I hope you start to feel better soon.

Skulleigh

Oh dear, I hope your arm gets better quickly!

Ze_Teamaker

(<8^c) I hope your arm feels better soon!

I must say I am intriged with the thought of Turmeric being in tea; being a curry lover and all.

gmathis

This one was a little too strong for me, but I remember thinking that it would be great to keep around for cold and flu season. It’ll clear you out!

Ninavampi

Hope you recover quickly! :)

Auggy

LIberTeas, Skulleigh & Ninavampi – Thank you! I’m hoping the sling only lasts a week then I can get on to trying to keep the arm healthy!

Ze_Teamaker – I’m a big curry fan myself. This has some of the dark/rich notes of curry, but it’s mostly ginger flavored so ends up being sweeter than most of the curry I go for. I think it might need more turmeric to evoke curry-thoughts from me.

gmathis – Yep! I think I originally got some as an alternative to mint teas when I was feeling stuffy – ginger really helps that! It is a more medicinal leaning herbal for me – the spice cabinet taste makes me feel healthy! :)

Wow! It has a little burn to it … reviewing in more detail for www.itsallabouttheleaf.com, and my chief observation is that it’s nice to find a medicinal herbal that doesn’t have lemon as its flavor mainstay. May be helpful and handy come cold and flu season.

I had been saving the last of this for a day when I wasn’t feeling well, and today is that day. I’ve had an upset stomach for the last few days and a ginger tea is just what right now. This reminds me a bit of some of the teas from Yogi that I drank all through school. I love that the lemon isn’t the prevailing flavor here since I’m not a big fan and that the licorice and ginger stand out. I’m also excited that this doesn’t have cinnamon in it like many Ayurvedic blends. I love them, but I tend to avoid them since the baby and I are both allergic to cinnamon.

I normally like everything by Rishi but this tea was way too strong for me – I threw the unused portion away, which is rare for me.

Charles Thomas Draper

This sounds good. Maybe its not delicious but good for your health….

TeaBrat

I should have tried cooking with it, perhaps. :)

Snow! Finally! One more day of final exams, and I am free. Good riddance; the stress really gnawed at my immune system and I’ve got some kind of weird throat thing going on. Should probably make that long overdue visit to the PCP

Despite what most people say about it, this is probably one of my favorite herbals so far! I’m a huge fan of ginger anything. In Filipino culture, we have a traditional drink called Salabat which is essentially a hot ginger and cayenne brew. Most make it by simply boiling the ginger root in sugar water, others get it in powder form (which I generally don’t prefer). I get that feel with the Turmeric Ginger, but with a much more naturally sweet taste. Had it extra strong today with a super long steep to ATTACK whatever it is that ails my throat.

Love the sting that ginger brings: it gives the essence of a capsaicin pepper drink without the entire mouth burn. Ideally, I would just drink this for the benefits, but I’ve had such good luck with all my brews, that the TG is on its way to #1. Definitely going to explore with different temperatures, though. I hate boiling tea.

i had this tea at a local restaurant called Cous Cous. it was loose leaf tea served in a small glass teapot with an internal basket. licorice root, orange peel, turmeric and ginger. an Ayurvedic tea with traditional therapeutic health properties. it was a great warm tonic to enjoy during lunch and was a warm earthy contrast to my summery cranberry & mixed green salad.
with the added notes of lemongrass it wasn’t too spicy or too sweet. a great balance and i would gladly have this tea again.

gmathis

This was really too spicy for my taste—my sample was really heavy on the powdered ginger and turmeric. But I noted at the time I tried it, it would be great for cold & flu season—will clear out your sinuses!

Not the type of “tea” I’m going to drink every day, but I’m glad to find something from Rishi that can finally replace the ridiculously over priced “Yogi” lemon ginger that I enjoy on occasion (mainly when I’m trying to fight off a cold). I’m a ginger lover, so that intense ginger bite is exactly what I’m craving if I’m reaching for this one.

If it’s too strong for your liking just decrease the steep time or water temperature, it’s an herbal blend so I’d say take as many liberties as you want with this one.

I guess I’m the only one around here who likes this? I enjoy drinking it after workouts and I find it zesty and refreshing. The anti-inflammatory effects of tumeric and the other herbs are a nice bonus. I actually make an ice cream with this by steeping it in milk and it is delicious.
