Love

Sipdown. I really do like this. Its quite good, full bodied and flavorful. I can get it fairy easily, so at some point I will welcome it back into my cupboard.

It has a nice flowery blend. There is also this sweet aftertaste at the back of my throat (same one as in Celestial’s Tension Tamer) that I just cant place…common ingredients are chamomile and licorice but i don’t think it is either of those.

I really like that sweetness at the end…if anybody knows what it is..and the other teas that have that – pls, let me know :)

A tea I save for cloudy days, when I’d rather stay indoors. Bought originally because of the description (Amour!) and notes (rose and lavender — I’m a fan of floral teas), but didn’t turn out to be a favourite (I’m not too fond of the taste of chamomile, and it’s the strongest one here). Be careful not to oversteep! Otherwise, a lovely companion for a grey day and a book. A clear, soothing tea, it’s best when you can see the steam rising from your mug.

Floral, grassy, sweet, and a little bit musty. I was excited to try it based on the variety of flowers in the ingredients, but I’m afraid the chamomile dominates and the rest play supporting roles. Still, it’s a nice relaxing cup to have right before bed, even if it isn’t terribly exciting.

I really enjoy this tea. It’s hard to come by where I live (a small town in the US), but it smells lovely and is definitely a very flowery tea. The flavor is really light, though, which is great. I can’t decide whether I like it better with a little honey or without, but it seems to be good either way!

Hmmm… I’m not totally sure how I feel about this blend.

I guess to start with the “pro” side of things it was much, much less perfume-y and floral than I’d imagined it might be based on the ingredients list. I really latched onto the rose notes and I found those very soothing which, along with the lavender, made for a pretty anti-stress kind of tea. I also didn’t really taste the chamomile too much, and what I did taste was less musty and unpleasant than I find most chamomile to be to my own palate.

On the “con” side, there’s nothing super unique or stand out about the blend. I do feel like I could get something just as good from a ton of other companies. Also, the licorice root was this weird push/pull sensation. I don’t personally like licorice root so I would have preferred the blend without it, but I think the natural sweetness of it was also doing A LOT of heavy lifting in terms of brightening up the floral flavours and without it I think this probably would taste pretty flat/stale. So not sure which would be the better option both for my personal preferences and in a general sense for anyone sensitive to licorice root overall…

Kind of a mid blend overall.

I taste licorice and some mild fruitiness, but it’s not super deep or delicious. It’s really just thin and a little too herbal/savory for me. The fruit isn’t very authentic. I’m glad I only grabbed a single bag from a TTB!

Aroma dominated by chamomile, but I can also sense traces of lavender and rose flowers in the background. Not enough, though.
Taste is more balanced. Chamomile still dominates, making me think of pure chamomile tea I sometimes drink when I have stomach problems, so my first impressions are not exactly positive… Fortunately lavender lurks in the back, but rose flowers are barely detectable.
In short, it is not much more than pure chamomile tea and doesn’t have much in common with love.

This one’s a slightly unusual choice for me, being a blend of rose, chamomile, and lavender. Floral teas generally aren’t my jam, but I’d heard a reasonably number of good things about this one and I figured I should probably give it a try before my challenge ends. It’s so close now!

In the end, I didn’t find it particularly memorable. It’s lightly floral and very sweet. There’s so much liquorice, it couldn’t really be otherwise, but I guess it’s fitting for a tea named love. If it wasn’t sweet, there’d be disappointment. Especially when it comes in a bright pink box. Like, retina searing.

Anyway, the most prominent flavour is rose, followed by lavender. I couldn’t really tell there’s chamomile there at all, even though it’s purportedly the main ingredient in quantity terms. I found it reasonably palatable; more so than I’d expect for a blend containing some of my least favourite things. I’d like it more, except the liquorice really spoils it.

It’s not one I’d buy again, but I had to try it at some point. It’s by no means bad, just not for me.
