backlogged from last night. I put on my pjs, brewed this up at watched a few episodes of Poirot, which was a lovely evening.
I’m glad that I drank the last of this tea. Not an impresive tea at all, it hardly registers.
Well, its out of the cupboard, to make room for another tea!

JustJames

you’re far more disciplined than i am… if i am grading it this low the i’m turning into the soil of my garden or gifting it to david’s teas staff, lol.

I’ll have to hunt down some Poirot online. That sounds like good comfy-couch viewing.

This has been on my wishlist for a few years! Thanks to KallieBoo! I’m able to sip and write about it today! Thanks bunches :)

It doesn’t have the aroma POW I assumed it would have. But…let’s see what it tastes like, shall we?

Hummm…well…I agree with KallieBoo! and many others…there isn’t much chocolate in there! Hardly any at all! There is a little mint but not “just mint” it does taste like a mellower mint and something else but I can’t tell what exactly. Perhaps it’s just the pairing with the rooibos (and not an overly sweet rooibos at that) that I am tasting.

It’s not bad tasting at all! It’s just not overly minty nor is it chocolaty. It’s warming, comforting, and treat-like but was left wanting – much like KallieBoo! as well as a few others.

I’m so happy I got to try this one finally and check it off my tea bucket-list! Woot!

I am desperately craving chocolate tonight! I think it might be because I was just munching on popcorn and I got salt overload that needs to be balanced with sweets, but man I need chocolate! Lol, I had taken out Della Terra’s Swiss Mountain, but I’m not feeling like having black tea this late, so the only other choice was this tea, which I have had for quite some time, it was an Xmas present from my mom the Xmas before this past one. It was my first rooibos, and I liked it back when I had it, we’ll see how it fares now. Oh, and I also downed a mini Coffee Crisp and a chocolate chip cookie while this was steeping haha, sweet craving still not quite satisfied though.

My boyfriend was super surprised when I told him I was making a bagged tea. He actually was like “what??” haha, guess this doesn’t happen that often. I steeped with boiling water for 5 minutes.

The steeped smell is mostly mint, with a hint of chocolate that I am wanting haha. The rooibos smell is there a bit too, but it goes nicely with the blend. It also brewed up really dark for being only 5 minutes.

Mmm this taste is nice and calming tonight, not a whole lot of chocolate, but it will get the job done I think, or at least trick my brain into thinking there’s chocolate there haha. The rooibos is pretty relaxed here, and the sweetness goes very nicely with the refreshing taste of the mint. This is a pretty good tea, albeit mild, but still decent. It’s a good before-bed one when I don’t feel like dealing with infusers and loose leaves and all that.

Overall, a pretty good tea. Could use a bit more chocolate, but ah well, for a caffeine free chocolate tea, it tastes alright. Mmm I’m ready for bed now though :) cozy and sweet.

Tasty! It’s mint and a little bit of chocolate mixed in, much like a chocolate bar where you wish there was more chocolate to mint in the ratio, but are still grateful to have something.

I’d ramble on more, but I’ve got 30 min until I head to bed and I’d like a little bit of minecraft time, pretty please and thank you. :) I’m building an underwater house!

Steep Information:
Amount: 1 bag
Water: 8 ounces hot spigot water
Steep Time: a little over 5 minutes
Served: Hot

Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaf Smell: chocolate mint girl scout cookies
Steeped Tea Smell: mint, lightly chocolate
Flavor: rooibos, mint
Body: Medium
Aftertaste: mint
Liquor: Translucent dark reddish-brown

I got this as one of the free samples with my last order. I had such high hopes for it, and the smell only strengthened my hopes. Alas it’s a mint rooibos and not a chocolate-mint rooibos.

Post-Steep Additives: +1 packet white sugar, sweeter mint, but still only a hint of chocolate

I must admit, I was not in the best frame of mind before I drank this.
Having wandered around a tourist precinct for a while, I was overjoyed to spot a sign saying “19 whole leaf teas”. Once I got into the cafe, there was a ‘MIghty Leaf" catalogue offering 19 teas. So far so good. It’s not a common brand in Australia, so I was excited.
I picked white orchid, but then changed my mind and ordered this one. I asked to smell them both, but when I opened the tin, they were tea bags.
Sorry, they call them “pouches”. Not sure if they’re stupid or think we are – it’s a tea bag.
Bad start, I should have walked.
So, anyway the beverage comes to the table. It’s in a takeaway cup. I have no idea why. The label said to steep for 5 minutes, I asked how long it had been steeped, and then set the tea timer on my phone. Then you’re supposed to pull it up against the plastic lid to strain it, apparently.
By the time the five minutes is up, the half-asleep staff have served appallingly poor and misrepresented food, and I’ve tried Mrs Devotea’s “Organic Darjeeling Estate”, which is a fine collection of words for – you guessed it – a teabag, and also unimpressive. I’m seriously annoyed, and I invest all my hopes that this tisane will lift my spirits.
And it doesn’t.
The mint notes are good, the rooibos thin and stale-tasting, the chocolate very rough and ready. I drank one third, then left, never to return.
I must say, if I was one who took milk and sugar, I think it would have been much improved.
But, it’s pretty unlikely I’ll ever bother trying it again.

Mighty Leaf is okay. I’ve had some good and some bad flavors. I haven’t had the chocolate mint, it’s just not something I would try. If I remember right, they have a tropical green that is okay, and also I think the earl grey was okay too.

Robert Godden

Nearly every positive comment I see about Mighty Leaf involves their Tropical Leaf Green or their Earl Grey. Being allergic to citrus, I"ll never know.

Peggie Bennett

Allergic to citrus, wow. Best stay away then. There are better teas and better flavors than citrus anyway!

This isn’t my favorite blend from Mighty Leaf (that would be Orange Dulce), but I like it alright. I wish that the chocolate essence was stronger, or at the very least, that the mint flavor was as powerful as the aroma. The mint is lively, I just think it would be a bit better if it were more pronounced.

So this one is just alright. It’s a decent way to indulge in a little chocolate without all the caffeine that a better chocolate tea would have.

Perhaps I’ve just spoiled myself when it comes to chocolate teas, and expect that all chocolate teas should taste as good as mine. haha!

Backlogging from San Fran again. Drank this in Union Square. I ordered this before the food came. Thank god! The second our sandwich was set down, a BEETLE crawled out of the salad. Being a laid back chicky, I went for the sandwich anyways and bit into a cold puh-nee-nee.

I’m putting this story in because my review of the tea might be skewed, as it is the ONLY thing I had for lunch that day.

Yummzo. The fragrance was strong, even outdoors. Strong cooling mint was very refreshing. Overall enjoyable!

One time at McDonalds, a cockroach crawled out from underneath my mom’s cheeseburger. It was right in front of the McDonalds employees, and they just acted like, “oh, yeah. that happens all the time.” o_O

Last pot of the night: 2 cups Chocolate Mint Truffle with mini bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream.

Woo, nelly, that’s potent. And minty and creamy and delicious. This may just be the only way to have this tea. Happy Friday!! What? It’s not Friday? It is for me, and I’m celebrating!!
