Organic Blink Bonnie

Overtired and feeling a bit yucky last night, I decided to heck with being able to concentrate and enjoy this tea the second time I made it (as I didn’t get to resteep it as much as it might have been last time). I wanted a green tea and this one edged ahead in this wanting. Very yum. I enjoyed it and I glad I decided on it and went with it. I did only steep two times and since it was late at night, I did something I’ve never done before and put the infuser basket in the fridge to resteep the next day. I feel those steeps should be a separate tealog though.

1st steep: 3 min.
A bit light. New green hay.

2nd steep: 3 min 15 sec.
Tea-flavored. Like a light black tea.

I have been eye-balling this one for a while now and obtained a bit of it from a non-steepster friend.

The first word that came to mind while trying to think of a word to describe the color was HONEY. Yes…the color is very honey-like. The aroma is that of a gentle green tea and a mead-type aroma – or honey – but not a sweet honey.

The taste is a bit dry with a slightly sweet end sip. It’s fairly earthy but not grassy per say. The best part of this tea is the hand twisted leaves…they are screaming multiple infusions so I am going to do at least one more after this :)

Wow What a fun tea this is! I had never heard of Blink Bonnie prior to discover LeafSpa Organic teas. For every tea lover, you must try this visually-stunning hand-crafted designer tea. This green tea consists of green, white and cinnamon colored leaves hand-twisted into 2-inch spears. Definitely a tea to be steeped in a glass container to watch it unfurl. Presents with an earthy tone. A most exquisite and elegant tea. Great job LeafSpa!

Another LeafSpa tea I’m pretty sure I bought because of the name. I thought it was cute. And the tea itself is cute, too. Like little twisty sticks of tea. Unicorn horns of tea.

I steeped it like any other green tea, and I don’t get the honey color that other notes have described. I get a standard issue pale yellow with green tinge green tea liquor with a vegetal aroma and a light, buttery vegetal taste. Lighter even than the bi luo chun of yesterday. It’s pleasant, but not terribly distinctive or interesting.

Just for laughs I think I’ll steep it longer and hotter net time and see if it produces a honey color in the cup.

I decided to look through my tea collection and see whether any of the other companies I bought from have gone out of business besides SpecialTeas, Andao and LeafSpa.

I found one more, The Simple Leaf, a much beloved company here on Steepster years ago for its Dawn, Mountain Malt, and other teas. I think everything else is still standing, though. That makes me happy.
