So the first full day I had here in Regina, after arriving in the late afternoon the day before, was sort of reserved for shopping from a bunch of places I wanted to visit – the farmer’s market, the only tea shop in town, a pottery store that curates pottery/ceramics from local artists, the comic book shop, and that sort of thing…
At the end of our shopping we stopped at a small cafe where my mom grabbed a coffee and I got an iced mango matcha latte. The mango flavour was very good, though quite sweet and syrupy. It wasn’t the best whisked/blended drink as I had both clumps of matcha and undissolved chunks of crunchy cane sugar – but it was cold and refreshing and after a HOT day out in the son it was nice.
…and then disaster struck.
Walking from the cafe to our car I ended up stepping off a curb down onto what I thought was a patch of weeds poking through the cracked pavement (it’s an older area of town). Instead I ended up stepping into a several inches deep hope filled with soft, spongey weeds that had just grown so tall and tightly packed together that it was impossible to see the dip in the street when steeping there. I rolled my ankle and just totally ate pavement, landing on one of two of my newly bought teacups. Thankfully, the cup I broke was something we were able to go back to the pottery store and buy a near identical one of – but holy fuck was I in pain.
Turns out I twisted my ankle. Soooo I’ve virtually not left the house since we got home because walking is… a challenge. Less than 24 hours back home and I’m essentially housebound (at least for a few days) while I just put my leg up. It sucks.
What an awful thing to happen on a trip! I hope you feel better soon.
Oh dear! I hope you will feel better soon too.
Ow! I am so sorry!
Hope your ankle heals soon!
