J is for… Jolly Jammy Linzer!

A little short on “J” teas too, and didn’t want to go digging, so I grabbed this one. Unfortunately, I recall absolutely nothing about it today. I know my first attempt was too heavy on the yucky medicinal rooibos flavours, but if those were present this time, they weren’t as apparent. All I can really say is that it was drinkable, and I drank it. Lots left, better review to come later.

2021 sipdown no. 12 (an awesome sample from Cameron)

This tastes a bit like a coconut macaroon. I appreciate that the rooibos falls to the background and some of the flavours come to the forefront. I don’t get a lot of cinnamon, but A said that was all she could taste. I count this as a tasty tea. It also tasted pretty well the same chilled.

So since I sipped down the caffeine-free Dessert by Deb pouch I had open, I felt I was allowed to open a different one. I chose this on a whim, because it sounded good and I knew I would be opening it for a swap soon anyway. This is from Deb’s recent Holiday Cookie Swap Party collection.

I confess, I’m not sure I’ve ever had a true linzer cookie? I mean, I’ve had sandwich cookies with jam, but I’m not sure if they counted. Some recipes I saw had spices in the cookies and some didn’t, so I don’t know if that’s a requirement.

Anyway! I definitely get cookie from this. There’s a light cinnamon note and an oat-y flavor that together remind me of oatmeal cookies. The maple flavor and sweetness helps as well. I don’t really get the jam part though – the closest thing is a tart apple note that lingers at the back of my throat after each sip.

So it’s not quite a linzer cookie for me, but it is a tasty oatmeal cookie! And I’m quite happy with that, ha ha…

You never get a linzer cookies? Oh well! We make them every Christmas :) Without spices, so certainly not a requirement.

Loved your review. You did such a great job of describing the flavours! :) And ha-ha! Surprisingly, I did get a jam taste to this above the other notes you described. I am glad you liked this one too!

Going to bump up my review a bit because I do like this one and I think Deb did a good job replicating the taste of a maple, strawberry jam! It is a great dessert tea to have after dinner. I get the dry, earthy red rooibos taste, but it is subtle.

@Cameron B. lol! I know! I read your review and I decided to make another cup while studying. I do get a hint of cookie, but mostly jam! :D
