This sounded like an odd combination the first time I saw it, but it was included free with the missing portion of one of my orders awhile back. I probably would have been content to let it sit untried awhile longer, but my dad just called and asked me to go through my tea for any Della Terra rooibos blends I could send home with my mom. It seems that he’s fallen in love with a few and wants to try as many as possible. Time to dust this one off before I pass it on to him.
This tea didn’t score any points with me based on scent, the brewed tea smelled like rooibos and orange peels. Not a combination that would appeal to me in the slightest seeing that I don’t care for either, but it did have a subtle scent of cinnamon and pepper which smelled nice.
Taste wise, it was a blend of lemon, orange and rooibos and a little kick at the end from the peppercorn. I wasn’t sure how well the peppercorns would work here, but I really liked that subtle kick at the end. It cut through the bitterness from the orange peel and said here I am. I’m not a huge fan of the bitterness that the orange peels add to the blend, but that is just a personal preference, and it mellows out a bit as the tea starts to cool. I actually don’t think this is a bad tasting blend, it’s just not my type of tea, but I think this one will really appeal to my father.
