From DAVIDsTEA

Gooey toasted marshmallows, graham crackers and rich dark chocolate. You know what that means… S’mores season is officially here, people! Our tempting pu’erh adds an extra dash of cinnamon to the campfire classic, so it’s rich, warming and packed with fudgy goodness. Want to live dangerously? Break out your biggest mug and brew it as a latte. Then top with extra fluffy marshmallows for the ultimate cold-weather indulgence. Don’t worry – there’s s’more where that came from.

Price per 50g: $8.98

This is one of the very few flavoured teas from DavidsTea that I like. The chocolate, marshmallow and cinnamon graham cracker flavours are all there. It does (as always) smell better than it tastes.

However, if you look at the tea, it’s at least 60% chocolate chips and marshmallow bits. This is definitely a dessert and not a tea. I’m looking for some “straight” chai to cut it and bring out the spice.

I will get another 50g, but definitely need to mix this because it’s too sweet for my palate.

Went into David’s and couldn’t resist going home with a couple of their fall chais. It had escaped me that this was a puerh based tea and I was wondering what was giving it a nice earthy taste. Now that I know, I wonder how much of what I’m tasting is the puerh it’s self and what is the additions. The tea has a light sweetness due to the sugary bits put in. I can taste the chocolate which is rounded out well by the puerh. I can pick out a light graham taste and I think I can imagine marshmallows hinted at by the white chocolate bits. When I drink it without thinking, s’mores don’t come to mind unless I focus on it. Either way it is enjoyable, but not something I’m overly taken by. It was a fun frolic in new tea territory. On to new experiences!

I went to DT and they had a sample out. Tried it, then bought two tins of my very own. This is sinfully good. I definitely taste the chocolate and marshmallow. I get hints of graham cracker sometimes but not enough to really think about it. Mostly it just makes me think of a hot chocolate with marshmallows already added in.

oh and I finally made my tea bento order. Mostly black teas as winter is coming.

How strong is the chai taste? I know it’s marketed as a chai, but I’m not a big fan of chai with overpowering cinnamon, so I’m hoping that it’s mostly a chocolate tea with a dash of spice for flavor.

Autistic Goblin

tastes like Cadbury’s marshmallow hot chocolate.

I decided to use one of my free tea coupons on this one since I was hesitant about the pu’erh. It is better than others though in that I was able to finish the cup rather than just dumping it down the drain, but I just couldn’t get past the pu’erh taste. It is just not something I would have again. However, I did detect marshmallow and chocolate flavors. I would just prefer to have a real s’more by the campfire.

*Update: DELICIOUS as a hot or iced tea latte. Especially with whipped cream to top if off!

Soooo this week I made S’mores Chai Ramen.

Probably one of the weirdest things I’ve ever done with a tea, but we made a Green Onion Latte for the DAVIDsTEA TikTok/IG accounts a few weeks back and it really popped off on IG so we were looking for other weird tea and food things we could try out too. Cop of Noodles recently released a limited edition S’mores flavoured instant noodle cup, so riffing off that seemed like a not terrible idea…

Anyway, here’s the video if you want to see it being made: https://www.tiktok.com/@davidstea/video/7387881333625769221?lang=en

Honestly, it wasn’t terrible. I mean, it wasn’t good but definitely better than we all expected. So, so weird though. The “broth” was basically just our super strong cup of S’mores Chai that the noodles were cooked in, and it tasted like rich chocolate with a hint of cinnamon and salt. Honestly, probably the best part of the dish. I could see, with some additional spices, it actually working as a legitimate stock. The weirdest part was the noodles, which were shockingly marshmallow-y tasting. Like, more marshmallow that I typically taste in the tea itself. They really, really soaked up a lot of flavour as they cooked in that steeper.

Basically, I think this is probably as close to a “dessert ramen” as you could possibly get. Worth trying for the experience, buuutttt not something I’d probably ever make again.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
