From DAVIDsTEA

It’s officially time to sip to a fresh new start. And what better way to do it than with an invigoratingly citrusy green tea? Our new favourite has a vibrant punch of benefit-packed matcha, one of the best energizers ever. It’s also got a splash of sweet orange and lemon, to keep you awake and refreshed. And let’s not forget our secret weapon, ginger – the spicy root renowned for its powerful cleansing properties. Bright, revitalizing and oh-so tasty, this tea is like a detox in a cup. Talk about clean energy…

#tiffanys2021sipdown Tea #8

Sipdown 1/7 cold brew pitcher. Last week I was feeling under the weather so I thought this would be a zippy tea to help me feel better. I think I’d like it better without the matcha because it muddies the mug I sip it in/pitcher I brew it in. Nice to finish this tin, have a full tin of same size and not sure if I have more in my stash elsewhere.

I have always enjoyed green teas, and I have been trying different Matchas recently, so I was excited for this tea. Then I read through some of the ingredients and was a little worried because I am not a huge fan of ginger, and that is one of the core ingredients. I enjoyed the first few sips, then the ginger really hit me and it was overall just too strong for me. It had such a natural and green tea taste, a little bit of a matcha taste and well the ginger. I didn’t hate it I just don’t see it as something I would be enjoying too often.

All I really taste in this tea is the ginger. And to be honest, I don’t like it at all. The smell was atrocious, and the taste was very strong. I used one “perfect spoon” and about 16 oz of water near boiling. I’m not a HUGE fan of ginger, and this surely didn’t help. There was a very, VERY subtle hint of lime, and it wasn’t very pleasant. It does seem rather fresh and natural, but the taste was just terrible. If you like ginger, I would recommend. Otherwise, definitely don’t drink.

This tastes exactly like lemon fruit loops.

My partner and I have a bit of a disagreement on this point. I say the various colors of fruit loops have different flavors (with the yellow ones being more distinctly lemon), he says they all taste the same. Regardless, we both agree this tea tastes precisely like fruit looks.

This is also really strange since the first ingredient is ginger.

The tea tastes nothing like you would expect based on the ingredients (ginger and matcha being the most prominent.) Instead the artificial lemon flavor, and the sugar from the apples completely dominate the tea.

With all that said, it is a tasty tea (if you like artificial lemon), and there is a hint of ginger if you are looking for it. It is also a good tea for people who want to drink matcha without actually drinking matcha.

Unlike many of the other reviewers, I found the ginger to be the main flavor in this one. The lemon stands out, but the heat from the ginger is what stays with you. I couldn’t enjoy the matcha or green tea in this one – the lemon and ginger take over.

I am drinking this as we speak and I am really disappointed because I thought that it was going to taste so much better than what it did. The lime/lemon taste seems so overpowering and yet redundant. Davids Tea has been over doing it lately with all the lemon in their teas, it makes all their teas seem incredibly similar. I didn’t mind the matcha flavor because at least that was adding something different. I am very glad that I just have a sample size of this because I would not repurchase this tea.

I got an orange candy vibe from this one. The licorice was nicely balanced with this one I thought. You get the sweetness but it’s not cloying/numbing. I’d get more!

I’m getting a very strong lemony taste from this one (maybe that’s just generally the cause of citrus) and a bit of orange peel. Nothing on the side of any of the other ingredients (especially not ginger or apple).
It isn’t bad I guess, just not something I would get again.

I got a chance to try this tea in person at a store. The smell and taste are strong with bright lemon, with some undertones of ginger. Brewed hot, the earthier tones of the matcha green tea help balance out the sharp citrus. I didn’t notice much of the other ingredients listed in this blend, like apple or licorice, though the tea is sweet without being syrupy, so perhaps those herbals helped bring out a natural sweetness.

I prefer my teas to be extra spicy when it comes to citrus and ginger, so as always, I’ll say that this one could have been even flavor-packed to meet my preference. That being said, it was a satisfying brew as is. The matcha gives this blend a good kick of caffeine, so it’s a good choice for that afternoon pick-me-up. I wouldn’t mind a new blend from Davids Tea that uses the hot, spicy, vibrant ginger and lemon tones of this blend, but used in an herbal tea as a caffeine-free option.

This tea tastes and smells as good as it looks and is described on the Davids Tea web page. “Invigorating” “energizing” “refreshing” Definitely worth a try if this flavors are up your alley.
