From DAVIDsTEA

Mellow yellow

Turmeric teas have been growing in popularity for years, but we’ve found it difficult to find one we loved the taste of. This bright yellow blend of turmeric and mango is a delicious exception. So, why turmeric? This vivid spice has a variety of uses around the world – from Bengali marriage rituals to dying Hindu monks’ robes their bright yellow colour. And in traditional Chinese and Indian medicine, turmeric is used to soothe upset stomachs. So go ahead, try a cup of this sunny yellow drink. You never know – spiritual and mental well-being might just be a sip away…

When DT had the new feel -good collection, I knew I had to try one.I chose mango turmeric mostly because I love turmeric tea and the health benefits are endless. The tea is ok – not fantastic. I couldn’t taste anything else apart from the turmeric (actually tastes like my turmeric tea i make from the turmeric powder). Unfortunately I couldn’t taste any mango.
Would I drink it again? Yes. Repurchase? Maybe no.

I’m so glad that turmeric was used in this tea. Without it, this would’ve been kinda gross. I love mango, but most of the mango teas I’ve tried have been disappointing. The turmeric sort of took the forefront with a soft mango background, but it was definitely pleasant. Not an overpowering taste by any means. The only issue I have with this is that it stained my cup, but oh well. It happens. Not my favourite tea in the world, but I’ll easily be able to finish off the rest of my bag.

This was the only one I think I wanted to try from the new collection. So, it tastes pretty good, but the most I can taste are the spices…the ginger is dominant. I can barely taste the fruits. I’ll probably get more of this. But I will have to be watchful of the SA because she tried to give me 18g when I asked for 10g.

OMGsrsly

Oh, yuck. I hate it when they do that.

Plunkybug

Sometimes I am ok to what they have, but other times I am more firm about what I want. If I see it is lighter or heavier than average, then I might be swayed to try more or less. But yeah….

i like mango teas. I don’t think i have issues with tumeric. Let me tell you though, i asked for 10g of this one, and didn’t notice when she decided i needed 20g until i got home. Opened it and man was this strongly tumeric – moreso that what i smelled in the store. i ended up brewing this one and not being able to bring myself to take a sip of it until it was nearly cooled down. something about the smell was just not working for me. However, once i finally tried it, i can get behind it lol. I wish there was more mango to this as it’s mostly in the tail end of the sip, but it’s there. This is a spicy tea, so you need to be in the mood for that, which is funny to me since it’s supposed to sooth an upset tummy. Not sure how that works, but i don’t drink tea for health reasons lol i will probably be good with just the 20g of this i received, but we’ll see. I do like my spicy teas.

Final Count: 126 (because i just HAD to go pick up a couple new teas from david’s…)

This was pretty good cold, just FYI :)

Sil

good to know! thanks :)

Turmeric is anti-inflammatory. Ginger for upset tummy. My SA tried the same thing. Tried to sell me 18g. I said no, I want 10g and made her remeasure. Defintely agree with you…light on the mango and heavy on the spices. But tasty.

Kristal

Really enjoyed this tea, but I like spice teas, so that’s my bias coming into play ;)

Sil

kristal – if you enjoy spicy teas and haven’t tried it yet…kaphaa from tea gschwedner.

I said I wasn’t going to purchase any new teas for a while, but a new collection? I had to pick up some samples to try! :)

I really liked this one, as it’s a nice blend of sweet and spicy. And mango! I’m tempted to use one of my free tea rewards to get 50g of this.

Kristal

100% agree!

Despite getting LOTS of tea for Christmas, when I saw DAVIDs came out with a new collection that focused on wellness, I couldn’t resist picking up 8g of each type of tea to try out. This tea intrigued me the most with the turmeric- I have never had a tea with that. It turns out I really, really enjoy it- no surprise since I enjoy ginger quite a bit. This tea has the warmth of spice without being overpowering, and the fruity taste in the background to give interest without being overly sweet. I’m definitely picking up a tin worth (despite my resolve to decrease my collection…sigh). The only thing I could negatively say is that this tea seems like it would have the potential to stain, be careful!

The new collection from DAVIDs didn’t really grab me at first, but this one did catch my eye so I decided to grab a cup today. I have to say WOW! This is really good. The turmeric gives it an intense back-of-the-throat spicy that I enjoyed and the mango is light (and predominately in the aftertaste) but it balances well. Other notes (lemongrass, etc.) are present but not predominant. It has a very Indian vibe. I almost bought 50g on the spot but then remembered I have some free tea rewards I can use for this (though I’m waiting till Monday to get it because I haven’t decided what I want for my other 50g).

Sipdown (136)!

This one was a definite gamble for me; I’m really picky about mango teas in general as it’s not a fruit I’m overly fond of. And, I’ve never really had a turmeric tea? Although unlike most of this newer collection I have to say that at least this is an ingredient I already have familiarity with. I really like Turmeric Ginger Snaps in particular, and the flavour also reminds me of the halva that our Indian neighbor Em used to bring over for us to eat when we were younger…

I have to say this is certainly better than I anticipated it being: I really taste the turmeric but I don’t find it overpowering alongside the sweet mango and pineapple notes. It’s got that light spicy kick and the end of the sip that slightly tickles the back of your throat. It’s a nice balance of sweet and spicy with a touch of savory as well. And it does remind me in a strange way of Indian sweets; turmeric will always make me think of halva but the mango is done in a way that makes me think of Indian sweets too.

Surprisingly unique and delightful overall. Worth a taste, I think.

Indigobloom

I’ve been totally off the herbals lately, but I think this may be one I could really enjoy. Can’t wait to pick up my sample at the store

Dry leaf nose: equal balance of earthy turmeric and ripe mango aromas

Liqueur: Bright yellow orange. Spicy turmeric with a slight tropical fruitiness.

Flavour notes: Tropical mango and mild citrus notes up front. The finish is very pronounced earthy turmeric, with a mild heat.
