Lime Gelato

Today is rainy and blah so I decided to keep this as a hot cup of tea even though it is screaming to be iced. I know people might be hesitant to drink this hot, but it’s really good! Really warm, sweet, and creamy. Really nice.

I have never tried lime bang or any of the other lime teas from DT, but I really like this one. It kind of reminds me of Dreamsicle for the creamy and sweet factor, but it’s pulled off way better. I really hope they keep this one around – I think i’ll be craving it from time to time.

Yummy creamy lime. It didn’t seem as flavorful as most Davidsteas that I’ve had, but I used a new type of tea bag this time so I’m thinking that’s the culprit. I’ll have to try this one again with my old style of tea bags because I’m sure I’ll enjoy it even more.

So I just recently participated in a few new swaps with: getanzt, Shae and Emilie and I am finally getting to some of them now. Today I am sampling: Lime Gelato- DAVIDsTEA from Shae.

Tasting Note: Wow. So the last lime tea I had was Lime Snowballs by 52teas and that was a zesty sort of lime that I really liked. For some reason, I thought this might be similar. Not at all but in a good way they are both good but completely different. This is sweet and vanilla-y kind of like a lime flavored yogurt but not overly creamy. I like this a lot. It is definitely a dessert tea. Wishlisted for someday when lime teas come back in vogue.

Too bland for the smell. So I like strong tea and there are a few weaker teas I enjoy but this one surprised me. The smell when i opened it was strong so I was looking forward to a strong tart tea but it tasted more like flavored water. Only tried it hot to start but will try it iced to see if I enjoy it more. So far I would not re-steep this tea (and yes I got this term from one of my favorite podcasts GeekSteep.)

This is a tea I hope finds its way back into my collection at some point in the future. I’m not much of a fan of green teas, but here I think the base complements the flavour nicely without being overpowering. Cream and lime are a combination made in heaven, in my opinion. I wish I’d had enough to try this iced. At least I have a few other lime teas in my cupboard for now!

Lime isn’t my favorite tea addition, but it’s one of my husband’s favorites so I try to purchase some lime teas for him when I see them. The aroma straight from the tea bag is primarily lemongrass, but there’s some lime there too. Since this is meant to taste like creamy gelato, I thought I might make it into a latte. Lattes make me nervous when there is citrus involved, but I had no trouble with this one. No weird textures or curdling. I think I probably did add too much milk, but I can still taste the tea coming through. I used 2 teaspoons tea steeped in 1/3 cup water. I then added a cup of frothed milk, a teaspoon of maple syrup, and a 1/4 teaspoon vanilla (based off this rooibos latte recipe – https://www.ohhowcivilized.com/rooibos-latte/).

It’s lightly sweetened and mostly flavored milk, but I’m still enjoying it. :)

This is surprisingly a very pleasant tea. I had it hot…many say this is best iced. If I have another hot cup I may steep only 2 minutes because it tasted a tad bitter or artificial at 3-4 minutes. I will definitely try it iced next. It is fun to try… the jury is still out if I’d buy more.

I feel misled with this tea. The scent coming off of this tea is amazing! I love the citrus and creamy notes, I was excited to get a taste of this.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t taste like anything special. It tastes like a light green tea, very little vegetal taste though. It’s a tea that I have mixed feelings for, but I think in the end I’ll just say no.

When I was making my way through a mug of this, all I kept thinking was, “Lemongrass. There has to be lemongrass in this.” Finally was able to check the ingredients and, yep, lemongrass. That’s all I get from this tea. I can’t even taste the “artificial creamy lime flavoring” from the ingredients list. I guess maybe it has a creaminess to it? Still, Vanilla Swirl and Lemon Pound Cake are better, in my opinion, for a sweet, creamy, lemony profile. Vanilla Swirl and Lemon Pound Cake are both stronger, more complex, and interesting to me. Lime Gelato has a weird, bitter-ish taste that it leaves in my mouth after a while.

Sweet creamy lime. I wish this tea went on sale more often since it’s so delicious!
I`ve only ever had it as a hot tea but I`m sure it`d be just as delicious as an iced tea.
