EDIT: Soooo, I accidentally posted this as Lime Bang – I really meant Lime Gelato. Whatevs! : )

Oh, Lime Gelato, you flirty fool. Today you are lovely and rich with sweetened lime aroma and taste. I think you would make a lovely mixed drink, were I not at work. To be honest, it’s a bit sweet for my mood at the moment, but that could have been from too much ‘leaf’ or too long a steep. I’m really shying away from overly sweet teas at the moment and this is falling into that category, but I am sure that my preference will change again soon. A fault of the drinker, not of the tea!

Oh Lime Gelato, how you make people jealous of us!

I love this tea, I love making it at work in my glass botum and the astonisment of the children as the leaves unfold and the steam fills the room with the delicious lime gelato scent to the point that the oldest child in my care yells: “I can taste the lime gelato in the air!”

I will soon be to the bottom of this tin and a little sad about it, but… but… I know there is still time to buy some more, and maybe DAVIDsTEA will keep this one as a “seasonal item” (at least please keep it on the shelves until September! PLEASE!?!

This delightful guy went really well with the Noodle Box dinner that was served at last nights Summer Training Meeting! Mmmm the lime flavour added that extra punch to my Thai Red Curry dish, and even helped cool the “THIS is NOT MILD Spice” reaction I had to my first and subsequent bites of food. Thank goodness for that!

I love, love, LOVE this tea but I am not sure I could ever enjoy it hot, it just would not work!

Indigobloom

I dunno there was something comforting about it hot! but then I am a nutcase haha

MaddHatter

Each to their own right? I think that today I might try it hot since the almost Summer weather is back to rainy and cold.

Indigobloom

Hmmm, I look forward to that review! :)

I haven’t been in the mood for anything flavoured in a long time and truth be told I’m still not but I have so many samples that my shelves are overwhelmed. I have no other option but to drink my flavoured samples to make room for tea that is currently residing in a cardboard box. I might find that some of the flavoured teas surprise me.

So I’m starting with randomly chosen Lime Gelato which is actually something I have never tried before. I know what gelato is but it’s not something that we really have in the UK, and as far as a lime ice cream goes I cannot say I have tried such a thing. All in all I’m expecting perhaps a sweet, lime, citrus flavour with an edge of being creamy. Well that’s my guess, now to find out.

The raw blend has a sweet, citrus scent that is more lemongrass than lime along with a creamy undertone. Similar to sherbet.

Once steeped this has a sweet lemongrass scent that is subtle and creamy. Flavour is mellow, citrusy, sweet, creamy and slightly tart. I still think it’s more lemongrass than lime but I don’t think it matters too much. For a tea that smells like sherbet it’s not as sweet as I expected or as thick in flavour but my husband likes it so perhaps I’m just being unfair.

Overall I would drink it again but wouldn’t buy it.

Am drinking this right now. We like it. It’s one I keep refilling, I like it a lot. I find it hard to find good fruit flavoured green teas and when I find a good one I practically OD on it.

Favourite fruit green tea hands down! Drinking it iced and it doesn’t taste like green tea at all to me, it’s just pure lime-onade :) I don’t know abut gelato, but there’s a nice creaminess that to me takes sharpness away and makes it less tangy. Even without sweetener this is not sour at all but plenty lime flavour. There, how’s that for eloquent.

It is really good! Pale green liquor, flavour matches the aroma. May-zing :)

I used the last of this to cold brew it. This is so refreshing. Smells and tastes like smooth creamy lime. Absolutely no hint of bitterness, and I did not add any sweetener. Next time I cold brew it though, I would use a little warmer water to make sure all those yogurt granule things melt fully. It sits overnight anyway, so it would be cold by morning either way!
Yummy!

1.5 tablespoons for 375 ml

Strong creaminess throughout. Lime is in the background. Balanced sweetness. Apples and pineapple are very well blended and complement the taste profile very well. Sight smokiness of the sencha tea comes through.

This tea reminds me of Lime Jello Salad from 52 teas.

This is nummy. Thank you Krystaleyn for the sample! This may be my favorite DavidsTea thus far. I have put the second half of my cup in the fridge to try it cold and I am sure it is going to be awesome.

Kittenna

It is definitely good cold! I really like it! So you got over the lemongrass being in it??

Daniel Scott

Okay, I find it hilarious that this review is right below your review for Whiskey White. I was going to get this one to try, but they were out and I got Whiskey White instead!

Azzrian

Just waking up and getting around – I didn’t know there was lemongrass in it! See if mixed with the right things it goes unnoticeable. I let hubby have it – he liked that a lot and also the strawberry lemonade from 52teas. I liked them both but they just got to be too much … I mean the first several sips are good but after that they were too cloying almost. And again I am wondering (especially with the David’s) if this is use of stevia I hear so many complain about.

Kittenna

I’m not sure that there is stevia in this one (but I could be wrong). It does have yogurt in it though, and definitely is a sweeter tea. I like them sweet though :) And, I didn’t think you’d notice the lemongrass in this one. It’s not particularly obvious.

This was my other to go tea for my errands/interview today. I’ve read good things about it and about how it’s really good iced or cold, so I asked Janelle for a sample during her tea sale, despite it being a green tea.

I used 2 tsp. of leaf for 10 oz. of water today; boiling steeped for I think five minutes? That was hours ago, and I’ve sort of forgotten at this point.

Hot, it was really gross. The green was super vegetal and grassy and just icky, and the lime tasting artificial and kind of chemical and just really irritated my throat. I drank most of it cold, just because it was so awful hot – and it was significantly better cold. It was a little creamier, but still tasted chemical and irritated the hell out of my throat.

Definitely not a restock but I am thankful I got to try it if only to rule it out. I have enough leaf left for one small cup and I’ve added it to my vacation bag. Maybe I’ll make it for my Dad or something…

Lala

Because it is a green tea, boiling may be too high temp to steep at. I would say try about 180F.

Roswell Strange

That’s what I thought; but Janelle had labelled the steep temp. as significantly higher so I just went with that.

Roswell Strange

(Just checked it on the DAVIDsTEA website – they suggest 94 degrees celsius)

Sil

i don’t like a lot of davids teas but this is one of the few i DO like… heh funny how wildly people’s tastes vary.

Made this then poured it over ice last night, then resteeped the leaves for a cold steeping. I’m drinking that second steeping and I really think this is the way to do it.

Before when I cold steeped this, I didn’t think the creamy yogurt flavor really came out. After the leaves were used hot, I think it helped out on the cold steeping. I taste everything in there. It was fine brewed hot then poured over ice but it’s even better tonight. I think if this makes it to the months where it should be warm, the bag I have won’t make it to summer!
