From DAVIDsTEA

Bad colds require great interventions. Take this tea, for example. It’s a deliciously soothing mix of peppermint, juniper berries and orange peel. Pretty great, right? If that’s not extreme enough for you, you could try eating raw garlic, or gargling salt water, or inhaling lots of steam. Yeah…we didn’t think so. Probably better just to stick to the tea. With its soothing citrus and mint aroma we can’t guarantee miracle results, but at least we can guarantee it tastes great. (MK Kosher)

Ingredients: Organic: peppermint, juniper berries, orange peel. With natural eucalyptus and orange oil.

Wow! This one really surprised me…I was really unsure about the taste. I thought that it would be like some awful cold medicine but, to my surprise, it was quite bearable! The peppermint is definetely at the forefront with the other ingredients lingering in the aftertaste. I was happy to be using a herbal remedy to my cold symptoms! Although it was temporary relief, it was relief nevertheless…definetely cleared out the sinuses. The first brew was really flavourful. I did get a second brew but the flavour was significantly diminished (still got the relief though)

The smell of the mint goes straight through your sinuses as the heat and taste sooth your throat. I really enjoyed it. It doesn’t have that much of a powerful flavor but that could just be me and my steeping. Hoping this will make me feel better!

I really like this tea. It is great hot AND cold. Hot it has a cures what ails you sort of way… and cold? When cooled, it almost had an iced sensation! It has a fantastically cooling sensation on the throat, and the taste isn’t too overwhelming. I am thoroughly impressed.

Eucalyptus, baby!

This tea is basically in your face eucalyptus mellowed out by mint and a bit of orange. I really like mint, so I started off thinking it tasted great. Well, a few sips in the eucalyptus hit. I was sick last week, and ever since my voice has sounded a bit hoarse, even though I feel ok. I think the eucalyptus may have fixed that. I won’t be able to handle drinking a lot of it, but I don’t think you need a lot. This will be added to my “medicinal tea” section, which I hopefully won’t need to use for a long time.

Oh, and I forgot about this one and accidentally steeped it for about 45 min, so it might have been milder in taste if I’d had it after 5 min. :)

Nice minty taste, but I prefer the Bravissimo tea’s soothing licorice.

I can’t survive without this tea. I’ve become a bit of an evangelist with it – even so far as buying a tin for the office staff. I swear by it. Colds, allergies, even when I need a pick me up – it’s always with me.

I’ve accepted that cold remedy teas are not going to be quite as delicious as others that I drink regularly for no reason. However, going to Cold 911 from the Gail’s Organic Cold Remedy is a vast improvement in my opinion.

I don’t find that the peppermint overwhelms anything, but then again, I drink a lot of straight peppermint, so I suppose I’m a little more attuned to the different flavours that are present.

Coming out of the tin this tea smells powerful. It reminds me a little of menthol to be honest, but it’s designed to destroy colds, so a little menthol-scent isn’t a bad thing.
With cold season just around the corner, here’s hoping that I don’t get quite as disenchanted with this one as I did with the other cold remedy from DAVIDs.
