From DAVIDsTEA

Shanti means “peace within”, and that’s just what this Ayurvedic remedy is supposed to bring you. How? With organic tulsi, or holy basil, which some say is an elixir of life and others claim is merely a powerful antioxidant and antiviral de-stresser. Either way, when combined with saffron, fennel seed, licorice, star anise, orange peel, peppermint, lemongrass and citrus, it tastes delicious.

It is FAR too sickly sweet, because of the anise. Ugh.
That said, it really does calm me down. I’m feeling a little zen! I’m not sure it’s worth the nasty anise though. Bleh.
If anyone wants the rest of my packet… maybe 30g worth, let me know. It’s really really old, but quite flavourful…

Ayurvedic teas tend to all be very sweetly; I am happy to know others have same experience: sickly sweet; that over powering licorice in taste. A good review with an acquired taste and not for everyone=Acquired taste=you either like it or don’t like it…and nothing bad about the tea.

Seule, yep! I love the effect of this tea, but the taste is beyond my appreciation. Too bad, I would love to feel like that every day!

Have you given this tea away already? I was going to order some but David’s Tea no longer sells it.

just made a cup of this after a furious bout of stress cleaning. Definitely helping to calm me down and bring me back to centre. I love this tea, I steeped it forever, probably like 20 minutes while I finished loading the dishwasher and tidying my kitchen and can definitely taste some astringency from the tulsi, but mostly it’s a lot of licorice. Which I love! I like the cooling effect it has on the back of my throat too. Ommmmmm

1 TB for 450 mL, 100C water, 6-minute steep.

I like medicinal herbal teas. I like the idea of sipping on a hot drink that might help me feel better. So I’m always open to them.

This blend sounds enticing. Who doesn’t want inner peace? And I’ve wanted to try tulsi for a while but could only find it blended with lavender, which I generally don’t care for in a tisane.

This is very soothing. I usually stay away from fennel, anise and licorice, but they aren’t dominating the cup. Neither is the peppermint or the lemongrass. I can just catch the orange peel. A nicely balanced tisane, though I wish the licorice was less noticable. Hardly a fair comment to make, as I don’t care for licorce. Not a tisane I’ll turn to for pleasure, I expect, but for the effects. I definitely feel more mellow after drinking it.

Rating: 80.

I love this tea whenever i crave sweet licorice taste, and also when i need help going to sleep. This is a delicious tea and a beautiful one to look at because of the star anise, that never fails to make my day with its pretty shape! This helps me sleep because it’s never that my body isn’t tired, it’s that my mind won’t turn off. I’ll never stop thinking about whatever, and that’s when i have this tea. usually after about half the cup i’m crawling into bed. This tea relaxes my mind like no other and really gives you the "peace within!(Shanti)

You’d think a stay at home mom wouldn’t be stressed… but you are dead wrong! I am totally stressed out. Thank goodness I found this tea. I’ve been drinking it every night this week and it has saved me a few times! I love the taste, even the smell puts me in a calmer more mellow mood. This is now my most fav. way to spend the night, it will continue to be a part of my night time ritual (until of course my kids move out ~ is that when the stress stops)?

I love herbals. I drink them often. So when one purports to “calm” me down, I’ll try it. I yelled at one of my kids tonight, made the other cry…. so yes, some calm is in order.

Boy this is a super sweet herbal, and I need to drink it straight in the future. Licorice, ginger maybe, something with bite, orange. Wow. Not bad.

Thanks Janelle for sharing this with me!

I don’t enjoy evenings like that, although they do happen.. Gotta love kids, even when they drive ya crazy!

Hope things are better today!
