Sipdown (720)!
Last of the free samples from my DF order – and the only one that I might have actually ordered for myself based on the name/description. Pear and candied chestnuts/chestnut cream!? Where do I sign up!?
Ok – so starting observation is that you really cannot smell the white tea or the chestnut from the steeped liquor aroma; it’s very, very heavy on the pear notes. The pear is sweet and creamy smell, with a very floral undertone. When you got to take a sip!? This is a bit of a lighter tea and very smooth – the pear is really all you taste at first, as well. It’s much like the aroma, but a little bit more floral in its undertones. It’s a damn good tasting pear! That’s about everything you get. That is, until you swallow!
That’s when the rest of the magic happens – if the body taste is all pear, then the finish is all chestnut cream. It’s silky, but distinctly a creamy and sweet chestnut that you don’t get otherwise. It’s sort of crazy how that happens – no chestnut at all otherwise and then, bam! Lingering chestnut on the bed of your mouth. It really makes you slow down and sip away at the tea slowly, really savoring the cup & that’s quite nice, makes it feel even more calm and gentle.
I liked this a lot, and it’s something I could definitely see myself ordering!
