Lemon Zinger

Would you like some hibiscus with that hibiscus or perhaps maybe some hibiscus? If that’s not pleasing, we also have hibiscus! No? Hmm. Did I mention we have hibiscus?!

I love this tea with ridiculous globs of honey when I have a bad cold with a sore throat. When I’m reasonably healthy though, it tastes terribad. I have it at work because I bought a heap of it the last time I was ill. I need to drink it, and it isn’t even getting finished there, where mud would be a reasonable beverage choice.

umm is this even tea? it tastes like just lemon in water. that is colored very dark. whew. i might lose this tea on the way home. like into the river or something. i’m not a snob really but i don’t like hibiscus much at all and this tea isn’t even trying.
i have had an intensely pms shite day. like don’t ask me what i think about anything and don’t believe anything i say today. and also every song, even bad ones, sound so beautiful and also everybody should just stop moving and look out the window. just sayin.

Yesterday I spent about 4 hours in my garden, weeding & mulching my asparagus beds (for a photo of the newly emerged asparagii, visit my FB).
This box of lemon zinger has been in my cupboard for a long long time, so it became a candidate for sun tea, which is quicker than cold brew.
It’s not my favorite, not by a long shot, & I don’t care for it hot, but it was refreshing enough iced.

And another one that I don’t have in my cupboard and haven’t logged yet. Three teabags left in the box now. I brought this one because my husband loves lemon. It’s soothing with honey to balance the tart lemon.

I had it that was last night because my throat was feeling dry. And drank nearly the whole cup quite quickly.

Hmmm… Welllll, it’s not quite what I hoped for. It’s not very lemony, at least not that I can tell. I can SMELL the lemon, it just doesn’t translate into tasting it. And it smelled SO good when I opened the box :( Oh well, there’s always tomorrow for another brew. I’m going to keep working on this one until I like it. I normally love lemon in tea.

I’m really enjoying this tea right now. The lemon and hibiscus are playing nicely without being too tart. Sort of soothing and energizing at the same time. Enough so that I’m actually upping my rating by a few points.

Ooh, just found another use for this herbal candy cup. Ever take a long drive, especially in Summer, when it’s hot?

Recently I read some advice for staying alert on long drives. Drinking plenty of fluids, though not too much caffeine, and keep slightly sour flavors going, while you suck on ice cubes. It’s supposed to keep you alert, and grounded in your body. Plus help you stop more often.

So in prep for a long drive, I threw some bags of Lemon Zinger in the bottom of a big cup of ice. Added just a bit of water, and yum. Long-Drive Liquid.

I want to like hibiscus. I want to like it a whole lot. I love steeping it in a clear glass when the water separates into layers of deep pink and clear and it doesn’t mix up until you stir it. I like the idea of tangy. I just don’t love it in my drink. This worked for me, though, because of the cold. I just don’t know if it’d be a go to move for me.

Perfect blend of herbs produces a very tangy cup of almost lemonade like tea. Awesome! ♥

This is a pleasant surprise! I didn’t think I’d like this because the lemon would be overpowering, but it’s perfect! A great balance of flavor. I’m really enjoying these zingers lately!
