From Bird & Blend Tea Co.

All of our favourite chai spices delicately blended with cocoa & toffee notes. Naturally caffeine free this blend makes the perfect before bedtime brew, with or without milk. Also great for children as a slightly sweet, milky treat but with zero sugar!

Ingredients: Rooibos, cocoa nibs, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, natural flavouring.

Sipdown & Backlog April 28, 2024

I had dropped a review of this during the Advent season, which I noted that the rooibos was “too light;” however, that was only a small sample and there’s an opportunity for the tea to become imbalanced. After making a cup of this last evening, I noted that there was ‘too much rooibos,’ which is a-okay for me, maybe not for anyone who dislikes rooibos. I noted that this is has a nice balance between the spices and rooibos, but I’d prefer something more spicy and sweet, rather than mildly sweet and nutty.

Pulled from TTB 2022, shared by Martin Bednář.

Enjoying this beautiful day with lots of tea! Started some new medicine yesterday that makes me lightheaded after taking it, so I thought it might be best to switch to something without caffeine. I don’t want to make things worse, though I really wanted to keep going with my black teas today.

This is a nice chai, lightly spiced, and I can taste the rooibos. It’s not the best rooibos chai I’ve had, so I won’t be keeping it, but it’s been enjoyable for the afternoon.

TeaTiff TTB #16

Bird & Blend does chai well and this one’s no exception! I added milk to my cup and it’s exactly the sweet, spicy, caffeine-free treat I was hoping for. The rooibos base is totally submerged under layers of sweet toffee, cinnamon, cardamom, and just a hint of warming ginger. It’s not quite as amazing as their gingerbread chai (an all-time favorite) but still delicious!

A couple days ago, I was just thinking so fondly of B&B’s chai collection.

The scent coming off the steeped tea is very liquified toffee. The chai spices are slightly muted. I’d say a get a sweet cinnamon coming forward the most, which seems to complement the toffee flavour nicely.

I much prefer this to B&B’s Gingerbread Chai and I would happily have this again. A really enjoyed it too!

Martin Advent Day 9
This is another one I was very excited to see! I’d say it’s more of a mild chai with molasses, but it’s nice with milk. I also might guess caramel before toffee. Though the flavors aren’t as in your face as they could be with a name like this, the flavor is still pretty decadent and tasty. I’d definitely drink this one again.

Martin Bednář

Yay, another hit!

I think this is still on their VIP page…

AJRimmer

Oooo if it’s still around during their boxing day sale, I may grab some. Thanks for the heads up, tea-sipper!

EstrafaDC

Thanks for this review. Seems Bird & Blend are including it in their September teabirds box. May have to try it out!

I hope you enjoy it!

SEPTEMBER 2020 subscription envelope
Among two other teas I was lucky to try last year, this is a new for me

I needed to coat my nerves with sugar a bit, as driving in rush hour even in my small town is getting more and more tricky, grandma who I drove to shops and hairdresser was sad that everything it getting more and more pricey, she needed to buy milk in other shop which is almost inacessible by car now, because it was in sale; people using direction signals in last second; just too many things that annoyed me greatly today.

The tea was, well, pretty sweet. But it wasn’t typical sweet as from sugar, just it was the caramel sweetness. It is interesting that there is not toffee (what’s the difference, can anyone explain, please?) in the blend, nor sugar and yet it is so sweet. There were as well chai notes which were pretty interesting and mild — but pronounced, mostly cinnamon and bit heat from ginger and that typical cardamom notes was there pretty much noticeable as well. The rooibos base wasn’t noticeable though, all covered with the sweet notes.

Interesting tea, I think I will keep that for moments like those, when I would like something sweet, but actually without sugar.

I have been driving a big rig for 33 years. I can feel for ya on the traffic.

Martin Bednář

Woo, that’s interesting. I am driving only virtual trucks (Euro Truck Simulator 2), mostly because getting the licence for trucks is incredlibly expensive here and, well I am not sure if I would like doing it for living.

Traffic is indeed getting worse, we need a bypass badly.

tea-sipper

I’m glad to see this tea will be back. I love B&B’s chai blends, but haven’t tried this yet.
