Orange & Spice

Another from the tea swap…This is a backlogged session from Monday morning. I had the intentions of sitting at the computer type my thoughts as I sipped, but I began playing Palworld on Steam and caught up on a letter to a tea friend.

I had hoped for this tea to taste wonderful on the account orange and spice mixtures are one of my favorite mixes in a tea blend. This was too weak in the spies and orange, and nowhere close to the Orange and Cinnamon that Twining’s offers; which is favorite during the Fall/Winter seasons.

I’ve been in New Orleans over the last few days for an “immersion weekend” for the law school I’m attending. The tea situation was dreadful. No coffee pot or kettle in the room, and the only source of hot water available was in the overpriced restaurant in the lobby of the hotel (which was only open from 7am-11am)…which I had to pay $4 for. So, for the most part, I ended up just drinking whatever was available at the event itself, which was exclusively a range of Bigelow blends.

This was…fine. It was orange, it was spice. It was pretty unremarkable, but it was tea.

Honestly, got this tea for free and really enjoyed it.

When I smelled this, there was an instant teleportation back to some distant memory of mine from the past. This is a melding of orange zest, chai-like spice, and the hibiscus background to add some light floral bitterness. It’s my theory that Bigelow uses this to simulate more body in their herbal infusions which is fine so long as it is not overdone.

The orange has a little orange oil feel to it but more of an essential oil than a synthetic flavor, which is nice.

Overall I enjoyed this tea especially as it is a caffeine-free blend that still packs a punch with lots of flavor to savor. Much better than a mint or chamomile herbals to me, and I would enjoy it after late dinner or before bed. A caffeine-free fix!

Drinking this instead of the Bigelow Cranberry Apple that I usually choose when given an array of their teas to choose from at a restaurant. It’s good, but feels more like a winter tea and I’m ready for spring/summer. Going for I Love Lemon next.

Nice citrus and a cinnamon flavors. Warm fruity. Good for a cold snowy day.

Was too spicy for my taste

Very nice spice tea. couldn’t taste the orange until i drank about half. Very yummy.

Wait, I’ve had this before? Yes, it looks as if I must have!
I was sent a teabag of this by, of all things, a perfume vendor, who adds little surprises to her packages. It was a nice touch, though I like the perfume better than this tea.
This is not the Christmas in a cup that I was expecting with a name like orange and spice. I don’t get either orange or spice, actually. I get hibiscus and maybe the tinest hint of orange?
In any case, it was hot and soothing on the throat today.

The aroma smells amazing! Like cinnamon, spices, orange, and vanilla. I don’t like the chicory root in the tea, it tastes like artificial sweetness to me, I think the tea would have been better off without it. It steeps very dark so I expected more flavour from the spices.

The first tea I’ve ever had so it’s more sentimental than anything. It tastes like childhood tea parties…and orange and mildly spicy.
