Thank you, Will Work For Tea!

I took pictures of some teas that had no pictures on here because why not? Nothing else to do right now. Maybe make a decision about what I am doing this weekend but I just don’t want to drive, and the only other way to go to NC is to leave in about 12 hours and I’m not ready to do that. Meh.

I’d miss my tea way too much because I don’t have a good way to make it if I go…that tea shaker, I bought it, but it has yet to arrive. Though the best bet is probably cold brewing with bottled water, ugh the water.

So anyway that’s just been taking up my time for the past week practically and it’s annoying. So more tea it is.

I probably should have steeped this a bit longer, but it’s so good nonetheless. The tea is true to its name. It is incredibly creamy and coconutty. It tastes so much like coconut, it feels like coconut flakes in your mouth. Now that makes for a bizarre feeling.

This stuff is definitely going on my shopping list. Wow. And as an added bonus, it’s beautiful!

Kittenna

Have you tried the Coconut Creme from Persimmon?? Wondering how it compares. I think they look similar…

momo

Yeah, they do look alike, next time I order I’m gonna get a sample one. Totally missed it the first time.

Alphakitty

I think there might be some overlap between Art of Tea and Persimmon, since they what looks to be the same (or very similar) Mandarin Silk blends as well.

Kittenna

Aha, I remember seeing ‘Mandarin Silk’ by another company recently! I feel like we’ve been finding a lot of companies with the same teas lately…

Well, I must admit, I am surprised to see the rating on this tea.
Or maybe I am just inexperienced at tea drinking.
But, my first thought when I opened the tin was “WHOA” and it was not a good “whoa”.
It smelled strong and slightly perfume-y to me.
To be honest, not very much like coconut at all.
Much more flowery and I repeat, perfume-y.
Once it is brewed and poured it calmed down some, smell wise.
Taste is more flower-ish than coconut as well.
Once, I told myself to stop thinking it as coconut tea and more like flower scented tea, I was able to enjoy it better.
I liked the second infusion better, smell and taste were milder.
It is brews up beautiful in a Libre or Glass teapot because of the lovely blue petals.
As I type this, I am curious to how it would taste iced.
I might have to try that next.
I will drink up this tea, but most likely will not be purchasing again.

UPDATE

This tea is actually very tasty as a Cold Brewed Tea!
The perfume-y taste/smell that I complained about above is not really there at all and (GASP!) I actually taste the coconut!
I used about 8 tablespoons in my Takeya and left in the fridge cold brewing for about 20 hours.
I am pleased with a smooth, light tea that is perfect for a summer day!

Don’t ever feel that you have to enjoy them all. Some teas have this chemical smell to them that just feel like a punch in the nose – ick! Your opinion no matter how new you are is valid!

Hesper June

Thanks:)
Everyone is so nice on Steepster!

Azzrian

They really are! This is the first forum of any kind I have found such truly nice people on! :)

Bonnie

You are misinformed! I for one am not nice! Garrrrrr! Snarlllll!

TeaBrat

Ratings are so subjective and we all have different tastes, I find

This is one of the most beautiful teas I’ve tasted. The dry leaves and flowers are just lovely.

This is the strongest coconut flavored tea I’ve tasted. It has almost a buttery feel on my tongue. Loving it :)

I think it would make an excellent latte or iced tea.

Update: Made a foamy tea latte with second steeping. Yum!

Nicole

Sounds great! Another to add to a shopping list.

Em

Would you like me to send you some? I’d me more than willing.

Nicole

That would be great, Em! Shoot me a PM. :)

WOW! Just WOW!

I think this is an amazing tea! First off, the dry leaf is so pretty – white tea leaves blended with blue cornflowers, dried shredded coconut and sprinkled with safflowers. The smell of cream and coconut fill the nose. Ooooooo!

The taste matches the strength of the smell – creamy, creamy coconut. The smell and taste are quite strong, but I’m not complaining. I really like strong teas in general.

Currently I’m enjoying this iced, but it’s also good hot – which is a reason why I’ll probably keep it stocked in my cupboard. It’s also good without sweetener, but I find that adding a little takes it over the top! :)

This is the second white tea I’ve tried recently and am finding that I’m liking them more than I thought I would. (I’m more partial to flavored blacks.) Who knows, maybe I’ve been lucky with my choices. Whatever it is, I’m looking forward to finding more delicious offerings of white tea!

Another tasting possible because of Jaime! Thanks so much girlie!
This is lovely! It really IS! Peony and Coconut and white tea! Very nice! Very true…not fake tasting! Very calming and tasty! There is a sweetness yet a tropical feeling to it that is neither to extreme on either end. YUMMO!

Thank you Jaime yet again for sending me this tea as well as all the others yet to be reviewed.

I was taken back a bit by this one. I have to have about 3 sips before I really understood it. I think it is because I had a black tea right before it and my tongue was confused and the palate wasn’t cleansed. Nevertheless, once I go to know it a bit better I got a strong creamy base with an essence of coconut. I did enjoy it quite a bit but need more time with it.

I think I have it steeped at 2 minutes…from what I remember, it is a rather different cuppa.

Welp, I had to throw out a coconut tea today for going rancid, so I decided to go through my tea spreadsheet and check my oldest teas, and noticed a few of my oldest Art of Tea samplers (which are just over a year old) had coconut in them. One of them (Coconut Cacao Pu-erh) had indeed gone rancid. Le sigh. Never even got to try it! Ah well, my fault for being a tea hoarder, and I didn’t know about the coconut issue until recently. The other was this tea, and it actually didn’t have the “rancid smell” when I opened it, so I figured I should try it… and if it tasted okay, drink it up stat!

Despite being purchased at the same time as the other Art of Tea sampler, this one seems to have been spared… perhaps it was just a fresher sampler to begin with from their stock, or maybe it just includes less dry coconut in it? In any event, it smells very buttery, sweet, and coconuty, and doesn’t have that rancid “off” scent. So I’m willing to give this one a priority sipdown.

I find the taste a nice coconut flavor, with a creamy body that has a light buttery note and leaves a very sweet finish on the tongue. It’s really lovely! I’m honestly shocked this has such a nice flavor and has held up so well given the age, considering how many of my coconut teas have spoiled recently, including ones half as old. Call me impressed!
