Brioche Organic Tea

Oh… Wow! OH WOW!! Thank-you QuiltGuppy for sending a small sample of this one my way! I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

When the package is opened all you can smell is cinnamon and freshly baked brioche, it makes me instantly think of my weekly indulgence. Brioche and a London Fog at Serious Coffee on Saturday mornings while I read a book and waste away a few hours (I am starting to get good at that)

But instantly I knew this would be a tea that I would not be sharing with my co-workers; I love to share tea, and they are forever telling me: “I think this is the point where we realise that tea is crack to you and this is an intervention” Nooooooo!

I have forgotten myself, the American Tea Room has nailed every nuance of flavour or brioche in this tea. From sticky brown sugar, to melted butter, to carb-sugar-gooey-goodness of soft dough – all of those flavours you can smell and taste. It was tough to share this with my co-workers and even tougher to leave behind at work as a Friday treat for the Manager who is covering me tomorrow for my extra long weekend off! (Friday to Monday!!)

This tea is a delight, and I will admit I am “biting the bullet” and applying for a credit card if only to get this one and Dan Cong sent to me on a regular basis… QuiltGuppy you are an influencer! (But don’t get me wrong, I am enjoying this!)

This is a delicious tea. The scent when you open the pouch is intoxicating. It smells like a bakery. The flavor is like a lightly spiced bread or coffee cake on top of black tea. Some flavored teas are just too sweet or artificial-tasting, but Brioche is different. It really brings to mind biting into a flaky pastry or croissant. The flavors are well balanced; this tea contains almonds and cinnamon, but neither of those flavors overpowers the rest.

I really like this tea and plan to keep it on hand as a low-calorie indulgence — a way to handle my cravings for croissants, cookies, baked goods and other things I need to avoid, if I don’t want to put on weight!

moraiwe generously sent me some of this as part of the Secret Turkey swap. I have been wanting to try this one for awhile as I’ve heard nothing but good things and I figured now was a good time since ATR is having a sale.

This is really tasty and the most surprisingly part of this tea is the buttery taste that you get at the end of the sip. I sweetened my mug, but I probably could have gone without (I took a small sip unsweetened and it was drinkable but not quite dessert enough for me).

The only thing I’m not a fan of, is I’m getting a bit of dryness around my mouth. I steeped at 200 which is recommended. Maybe I should try a touch lower?

While it’s great, I’m not sure I need 2oz of it around… hmmm – knowing me I’ll change my mind.

Ummm, so I’ve been very derby lately. This is from sil but it is apparently also the same one that MissB sent me recently. I sucked that down mega…I was in a mood and needed consoling and this did it. But I didn’t realize when I asked for it that it was the same sil was sending. I also sorta forgot that she was sending any. This is not as bad as handing my tumbler to ShayneBear yesterday to have him sniff the contents, saying it was the Nutmeg Cream from Butiki, only to realize after he left that I had filled my tumbler with water before refilling with more NC from my Timolino. So yeah, I handed him water to sniff, which of course didn’t smell like anything, really, just faintly of the NC.

Go me!

Anyway, made this this morning as I promised a friend I’d help her with some work today (arranged one of my days off this week for today) and I had to be at her place at 6am. Ouch. Not fun on a day off. But I was done helping her at 2:30 and then she took me to Noodle Box for lunch since Coras was closed by the time we got there. So this was my tea today.

And like last time, though I apparently neglected to make a note, I loved it. It is soooo good. I may need to order some. Cinnamon and almond…how can it be bad?

Weekend Sample Sipdown, #1! It’s time for me to start using up my samples that I have gotten in so many lovely swaps. I’ve decided that weekends are for samples only.

So, today I drank a pot of this. I can’t remember who sent this to me…my apologies to the generous giver! I didn’t get any scent from the dry leaf, and that worried me. Once brewed and sweetened, I could smell raisins. When I tasted it, I got the raisin, dough, spice flavors. At first when hot, it was delicious. As it cooled, the black tea flavor seemed to thin out a little bit, but it was still good. This is definitely a tea I would drink again. Thank you, mystery sender!

Thank you QuiltGuppy for this trial! It is lighly cinnamon and almond with a rich tea base. It reminds me of Almond Cookie from Butiki and My Boss Sucks from Praise Tea. I am not sure I would be able to tell the difference even in a side by side.

24 oz teapot, 4 actual tsp tea, freshly boiled water, 4 minutes. Lightly sweetened.

This was my breakfast tea today….yum, but tomorrow I will go with something stronger and less flavoured :)

After seeing this tea show up on my dashboard in others’ tasting notes so many times, I had to try it for myself! So thank you to bluebelle for sending some my way! Even though I’ve seen people sing praises about this tea, I was still blown away by how spot on it was. The dry leaf smelled like freshly baked pastries. The tea also somehow tastes like freshly baked pastry and cinnamon.
Usually with teas that emulate cakes or other desserts, I feel like there is something missing. Whatever that something is, this tea has it. I guess it just balances well between being overly artificial and being too weakly flavored. I may have to make an order with American Tea Room soon!

Oh my… This is sooooo good. The smell and taste are delicious. I like the sweet almond taste a lot, this goes on my shopping list for sure. It’s good plain and I’m sure would taste good with some sugar and milk too. I’m having it with my croissant breakfast sandwich and it goes well with it… and cookies :) A definite treat, thanks moraiwe!
