Chinese Green Teas (including a Jasmine scented green tea) blended together with apricots, orange peel, orange blossoms & cardamom
If you’ve read my description of July’s themed box, then you probably guessed that one of these ‘custom’ creations would be for Alice herself. I mean, she is the main character, isn’t she? Plus, when the Mad Hatter asked her if she cares for tea, she responded, “Why, yes. I’m very fond of tea.” So, it really goes without saying that she NEEDED a tea of her own.
For Alice’s tea, I started with a Long Mei green tea grown in the Yunnan province and added apricot, orange peel, orange blossoms & a touch of cardamom. To this delicious, beautiful blend, I added another green tea – a jasmine scented Yunnan grown green tea – to create a unique treat for the senses. A tea that looks and smells just as fantastic as it tastes!
I absolutely ADORE this tea. The jasmine notes are forward but do not overwhelm the palate with perfume – the apricot softens the jasmine just so while tantalizing your taste buds with sweet apricot flavor. There are hints of citrus offered throughout the sip – brought to you by the orange peel & blossoms and of course the cardamom, which also provides a kiss of spice that is just barely there.
It’s a beautifully fragrant, delicious experience, this tea. It’s also vegan, gluten-free & allergen free!

Anyway, this one has a lovely stonefruit sweetness to it, without any additives. I’m also tasting the floral of the jasmine and a touch of the green tea (but not much). The peach flavor more or less takes over in this cup, which is fine for me, I love a strong peach tea. That said, I’m not sure if the peach and jasmine are playing well together. There’s an… well there’s an odd note to it that I can’t place. It tastes a bit metallic? It feels like the two halves of the flavor profile don’t want to mesh properly. It doesn’t stop me from enjoying it though. It should be noted that I believe I overleafed and oversteeped this, so take that into account.
EDIT: It occurs to me that the flavor I am having a hard time processing may be orange zest. It’s a possibility, I’m not sure. It’s sharp and slightly bitey, so there’s a good chance it’s that, and not some weird aftereffect of the blend.
All in all, this is an ok tea which, while I enjoy, my palate isn’t nearly as discriminating as many others, so liking this is probably a “me” thing. Oh well. I’m sure I’ll enjoy what I have. I need more peachy greens in my life!

Green tea and jasmine give it an intense, vibrant character, and apricot/, orange and cardamon round it out with their sweetness. Also, a pronounced juicy and spicy aftertaste that lingers cheerfully.
All flavorings are fresh and clean but not overpowering. A nice blend with some character.

A is for… Alice’s Tea!
Decided that March would be a fun month to theme my “drink through my 52teas stash” project to the alphabet. Starting a day late, and anticipating some disruptions about mid-month as we plan to head off on our first pandemic trip… so we’ll see where this ends up, but I’m sure it will be fun anyhow. I may spend a couple days on the aforementioned B and C, which make up a full 30% of my stash, and I’m fairly sure there are a couple letters where I have 0-2 teas, so I might skip ahead on those days, or toss in some DavidsTea. We’ll see.
This hasn’t been a favourite tea for me, although the ingredients are fairly appealing – jasmine, apricots, cardamom. I mostly taste jasmine and creaminess, along with some spicing, and a bit of orange. It’s not bad, but not a tea I’d gravitate towards regularly.
This was our tea of the week for July 1 (for last month’s themed box). Last night, I set it to cold-brew overnight and it’s really quite nice cold-brewed. I think I might like it a bit better when it’s steeped and served hot – it’s a little fruitier tasting when it’s hot. Served cold, I notice more of the jasmine notes. I enjoy both – but find myself wanting a little more apricot in this cold-brewed version – something that is much more present in the taste when served hot.
That said, I do notice more of the fruit flavors (apricot and orange) as I continue to sip. Very light and refreshing – especially after having so many black iced teas as of late.
