From 52teas

Tea of the Week for February 20, 2017!
Here at 52Teas, we’ve had a few different variations on the Razzleberry (Raspberry & Blackberry) flavor – and they’ve all been so delicious that I see no reason why we should stop exploring all that’s Razzleberry! This time, we’ve flavored a combination of organic green and red rooibos. The result is a slightly tart, deliciously sweet berry tea that’s naturally caffeine free!

The base is light, slightly fruity with hints of nutty warmth. The berry flavor is bright and tempting! Tasty!

organic ingredients: green rooibos, red rooibos, blackberries, raspberries and natural flavors

Day six of attempting to stop caffeine consumption from 3 pm onwards. Nope. Didn’t happen today either. Currently, it’s a tie at three days, yes, and three days, no.

First cup of this so far, so I am still making up my mind. I am not smitten with it. Yet.

At this early stage, I am going to say that it needs more vanilla.

To be continued.

How does this not have hibiscus in it? Aside from the woody red rooibos (the green rooibos is virtually non-existent), I’m getting a heavy, tart hibiscus but without the syrupy mouthfeel that accompanies it. I wouldn’t have guessed that this was supposed to be berry had I tasted this blindly. Maybe cranberry but not raspberry nor blackberry. Very tart, leaving the palate dry. A great surprise in my mystery grab bag but not what I expected.

Sipdown (653)!

I actually finished this one off WEEKS ago but the Steepster page for it was doing that weird mobile view chache-ing error/glitch so I couldn’t log the sipdown. My cupboard still isn’t TOTALLY accurate because there are teas I need to add to it but can’t because of that same glitch…

This was a nice cup though, just like all the others I had of it. Smooth and a little more supple/soft but a nice sweet and airy raspberry flavour with some much more subtle blackberry undertones. Still REALLY reminds me of raspberry flavour cotton candy/fairy floss but can’t place 100% why. Possibly the use of green rooibos, which I associate with DT’s Cotton Candy a little bit because I’ve been drinking a decent amount of that lately…

Shrug.

That glitch has been driving me crazy too. I’ve also had reviews before just sitting on my review NoteTab file for weeks, waiting for the page to uncache so I could actually copy/paste it off my NoteTab onto Steepster. When I reported the pages, I was told by Jason that they can’t refresh the caches and we have to just keep waiting… I really wish they’d fix that bug, it’s a real nuisance.

It really is. I also sometimes like to look at prep times that other people used in their reviews and it prevents you from see basically anything or doing anything on that page.

Yeah, it’s been annoying me too! I’ve been running into it a couple times. This is especially harsh for my beloved Bird & Blend Jelly & ice Cream.

I finished this sample off today, which came from a sample exchange with VariaTea. I’m not sure why I didn’t have it recorded on my spreadsheet, but it is nice to clear out my drawer a bit.

This time I made it hot (1 tsp leaf, 500 mL hot water) but had no teabag or strainer and had to drink it while trying not to swallow rooibos needles. Still, it was really good flavour-wise.

The freeze-dried raspberries make it so deliciously fruity without the fake taste you get from certain flavourings. There is a strong rooibos taste here (which I like), so this blend is best suited yo fans of rooibos.

So I had this hot yesterday and the red rooibos took over. Today I am having it iced and I am tasting the green rooibos more than anything. So that is interesting. There is also more berry flavor here than there was in the hot cup, especially blackberry. Still, green rooibos is first and foremost what this tastes like and that leaves me wanting more berry flavor.
