6 Tasting Notes
I ordered Pumpkin Chai at DAVIDsTEA in November after smelling a sample, and oh did it smell good! I drank it as a latte (with agave) hoping it would be even better than Pumpkin Spice from Starbucks. I am a huge Chai fan and I also like pumpkin, so I thought this tea would be a perfect fit for me. As I drank it, I experienced a slightly bitter taste on top of the creamy, caramelly taste that resonated in my cup. I’m hoping the tea was oversteeped, but I have a feeling the huge pumpkin chunk that I saw while my tea was steeping, was the root cause of the bitterness. I would be interested in trying this tea again to see if it does better a second time around.
I was given this tea as a gift in the Tea Teasers set of nine sampler box. It smells almost like blackcurrants, and I wasn’t overly fond it myself. When steeped, I was able to smell the variety of berries more easily, but was met with a slightly bitter taste. I could drink this tea again, but won’t be buying any in the future.
Preparation
When measured out this tea to put into my filter, I made sure to make the ratio between mate and mallow flowers, fig bits, orange peel, etc. as relatively even as possible. Upon first steep, I was met with a very grassy flavor and a rather dusty smell, but it was very smooth drinking! My first cup left me with a neutral feeling, so I re-steeped the tea and was left with a somewhat fruitier flavor, but it still smelled and essentially tasted the same. I liked the kick of energy this tea gave me, but to me, this tea was nothing special. I will try drinking this tea in the future, as I will with other yerba mates.
Preparation
I received this tea as a gift and have been quite pleased with it ever since. When I first smelled it in the bag, I was met with a warm tropical coconut/vanilla smell, and on second sniff it smelled almost like pineapples! This tea is delicious on its own or with the typical black tea accompaniment of sugar and milk. It has a coconutty/caramelly taste that goes down smoothly, and I will be sure to buy a 100g tin after my supply runs out.
Preparation
I bought Cinnamon Heart on a whim after I smelled it in store. Cinnamon Hearts are one of my favorite candies, and the smell of this tea is bang on to the candy. I was elated to try this tea, but after it was done steeping, I was hit with an overpowering fishy smell that made it almost impossible to stay in the same room let alone drink it. Still, I tried my best to attempt to drink the cup that I steeped, as I had an inkling of hope left that perhaps it would taste nice. Again, the smell was too overpowering and affected the taste for the worse. I’m hoping I can take this tea back, as I bought 100g and I don’t even want to try drinking this tea in the future!
Preparation
You can take it back to the store and exchange! No worries :)
Which is great because you can now get 100g of a tea you love instead ^^
Although I do recommend maybe setting up a swap here on Steepster with someone who loves that tea, as when you return tea to the store, it is destroyed!
After hearing rave reviews from many of my friends, I went in store to sample this tea and I fell in love! The smell alone is to die for, and it is great either straight or as a latte with agave. I wouldn’t mind if Movie Night had an extra handful or two of popcorn but nonetheless, I bought the tea for the caramelly/maple taste.
