Sipdown (529)!
Ok, this one’s not a true sipdown because I gave the last cup away to a coworker, but I wont tell if you don’t. I’m trying to share the tea love a little more though and be less of a hoarder since I’ve got enough bloody tea on hand to probably keep me drinking for the next few years…
This was very tasty though; I mean totally doesn’t hold a candle to the amazing cocktail I whipped this up into last time but I do really, really enjoy teas with strong, heady rose notes and this completely delivers in that department. What I really like is the savory aspect too, from the sage. It’s not often that you associate/come across a ‘savory’ but floral tasting tea, but this is just that and it’s pretty smooth and tasty!
Sadly nothing else this company carries really interests me so I don’t foresee myself ever wanting to place an order with this since the shipping cost for just the one tea would be pretty awful; but I enjoyed my experience with this tea and think it was something really nice to have on hand even if it was only for a short while.
I’m trying this one hot now for the first time; there are some things that immediately jump out to me as different from the iced cups I’ve had a couple times before and really enjoyed. Lets start with what’s similar though; the overall profile is very sweet and you can definitely tell that a large portion of fruit in this tisane has been candied. It’s lots of mango, similar to the mango gummy candies I buy from the Chinese sweets section of my local grocery store, but also juicy lychee and hints of ripe apple too. The big difference is the ginger; I didn’t find it discernible at all in the iced cup of tea but here in this hot cup it’s quite the flavor force! I wouldn’t go so far as to say I don’t like it or that it ‘burns’ but it definitely has some heat to it. It’s a nice contrast though to an otherwise quite sweet and fruity profile; but I do like this one iced better than hot and I’d be lying if I said that it wasn’t at least partially because this tastes like ginger heavy iced.

Made this earlier in the evening; I added in some French Vanilla creamer to it and it made for a very thick, creamy berries and cream type of flavour. Notes of blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry. Really robust. It basically tastes like an entirely different tea; it’s amazing how much difference one extra ingredient can make to a blend.
Saw this at the grocery store the other day and had to try it. I looked up the company just now to make the Steepster page for this tea, and I have to say that I think my grocery store chose literally the most boring flavour sold by this company though, and now I’m a little disappointed.
This still tasting good though; I think it’s more weighted towards the peach than the pineapple though and actually all in all it’s pretty mellow tasting. I expected some acidity punch, and… didn’t really get it? But I liked it! Peach and pineapple is a fun pairing; it makes sense to me even though I don’t think I’ve seen it a lot.
Now I just want to try the other kombucha sold by Kevita, though…
I’ve been wanting to try the Mango Habanero one that they sell but can’t find it. Have you had the Mojito one before? I tried it so long ago I don’t remember how it fared.
Last tea to write about from when I felt sick.
A lot of my tea friends seem to really like chenpi teas when they don’t feel great so I tried to embrace that and I made a large mug of it with some honey back when I had laryngitis. It’s not that it didn’t leave me feeling a little more comfortable/better in general and that I don’t get why people seem to like this as a sick tea, but for me it just felt like a waste of the tea? I mean, I really like chenpi pu’erh as a flavour combination just in general so when I’m feeling sick and I know my palate is off and I’m not tasting the tea like how it would normally taste to me it just feels like I’m losing value from it…
I think that’s why I personally drink a lot of ginger lemon teas when I’m sick; I still get that comforting quality but it’s not a flavour pairing I would normally drink when I don’t feel sick so it doesn’t feel wasteful to me.
Smooth, and chocolate-y but not a lot of chili or spice at all. This was one of those cups of tea where I deeply craved it and my first few sips gave me that “Oh fuck this is perfect” but then after like four sips I found that my craving was totally satisfied and I… didn’t really want to finish the cup after that…
So. Welp.

If there reason for the orange blends produced by AQ2T tasting weird as of late is the supplier of that flavouring changing recipe, then I’m super glad I stocked up on this one when I did because it’s still a super juicy, sweet tasting blend with the old orange flavour that I just LOVE…
Iced tea!
Last time I had this one iced I thought it tasted like red licorice, and I don’t think I’ve revisited it at all since then. We have a visitor in our store from a different district though, and all week he’s been talking about Goji Green/recommending it to customers because it’s his favourite tea so I felt more inclined to revisit it this week. I still kind of think it tastes a lot like red licorice; but it’s got some sweet raspberry notes too and just a little bit of citrus/orange. I felt like I also noticed the stevia more in this cup; just more of that artificial-like sweetness in the aftertaste. Not my favourite tea, but a nice every now and then kind of tea for when I want something sweet and fruity.

Couldn’t decide between making this one or Goji Green iced; so I decided not to decide and I just made both! I had a tea press with me at work, so popped this one in the tea press and made the other in a staff cup.
I know I need to decide soon if I want to stock up on this one for at home since we’re almost out of it at the store now but I’m just not sure! I like how tropical it is; and as a hot tea it’s very refreshing and well balanced. As an iced tea, it’s a little more grassy and noticeably green tea tasting though and that’s the aspect that has left me feeling not completely sold. But yes; very fun tropical fruit blend with notes of guava and pineapple, and then more of the currant/orange as undertones and not body notes.
Hmm… What to do…

I’m gonna need to revisit this one, ‘cause while I found it had some of those soft smoke elements and vegetal tones that I’m used to with Gunpowder tea it was also really mild/weak tasting and didn’t form a strong impression with me.
