Not for me, but recommended if you would like a hazelnut-scented/flavoured black tea.

drank Cocoa Loco by T2

This smells amazing while steeping, with a velvety-rich chocolate and milk fragrance. But is basically tastes like weak cocoa, or in my case, weak cocoa with a dash of milk. I quite like weak cocoa late at night, but I would save my money by just buying the real thing. Still, very impressed by the smell!

drank Red Choc Mint by T2

My favourite everyday tea—rooibos—with a hint of chocolate and quite a lot of mint. Upon steeping, the mint smell and flavour almost overpower the rooibos and chocolate, but adding a dash of milk tones the mint down again.

I would be happy to have a small quantity of this at home to have twice a week or so. Mint is supposedly an appetite suppressant, so this may be a good substitute if you’re craving an Arnott’s Mint Slice!

Number of steeps: 1 medium to strong cup, 1 weak cup

Flavors: Chocolate, Peppermint, Rooibos

Boiling 3 min, 30 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 250 ML

A nice, solid, dependable Rooibos. A staple in my pantry, drunk with a dash of milk (and some honey if it’s treat time).

I don’t know if I steeped this for long enough (just over 3 minutes in 100C water); I could smell the vanilla and toffee but the flavours were muted upon drinking (dash of milk added after steeping). This tea is OK but there are others I would choose over this.

Love at first sip! This is my go-to tea when I want something in a flask to take out and about. Quite forgiving of varying temperature ranges and steeping times. I’m a big fan of genmaicha and this takes it to the next level—a delicious, divine, dessert-y level!

This wasn’t a very indulgent experience for me; it tasted like an average white tea with some coconut essence and left a slightly bitter aftertaste. I would rather have a good quality white tea with nothing added.

I tried a second cup with some milk added (even though I usually don’t add milk to white tea). This helped with the bitter aftertaste but overall it was like drinking weak coconut-flavoured tea.

drank Yerba Mate by T2

I am not a yerba mate expert so I can’t speak to whether this tastes authentic. I’m always on the lookout for coffee substitutes so I thought I’d give this sample a try (with trepidation, some Internet reviews have described yerba mate as tasting like cigarettes!) I was pleasantly surprised, to me it tasted like green tea accompanied by the smell of freshly cut grass. There was a hint of honey to the taste as well. Looking forward to buying a box and adding it to my caffeine arsenal!

Perfect. Don’t change a thing. I loved this from the first sip. If you’d like to approximate T2’s New York Breakfast, add a dash of cinnamon powder.

I love kaya (coconut jam) on toast and really wanted to like this tea. In fact, I am sipping on a sample of T2 Singapore Breakfast (with milk added) while I write this review. But it is just … meh. I can detect coconut and pandan, but the pandan is muddy and not the fresh leafy green fragrance I am used to in most pandan-flavoured foods (pandan cake, pandan jelly etc.) I’m also not a fan of the blended black/pu er and green tea/genmaicha combination, as it results in a rather muddled flavour. Black tea or green tea with pandan flavouring may be a better combination. Stick to regular tea and kaya toast for the authentic Singapore experience.

Bio

A tea heathen currently working through the T2 range and any other teas unfortunate enough to land in my path.

Fond of:
- black teas
- rooibos with milk (but not straight)
- teas with dessert names and connotations
- green teas, especially with popped rice
- white teas
- pu er teas from third steeping onwards

On the fence about:
- herbal teas
- chai ( I want to like these but find the cardamom overpowering)
- oolong teas

Not convinced about:
- fruit teas
- teas with coconut flavouring
