268 Tasting Notes
My friend Chris got this tea for his bottomless cup at verdant. I traded with him on the third steep to try it. It was a gentle green, very delicately vegetal with a buttery-like richness without tasting buttery if that makes sense. He said the first steep was quite sweet as well. I’m usually not one for greens, but I liked this one quite a lot!
Flavors: Grass
This was my first Puerh! The main taste was the cinnamon, but with some earthiness behind it. Normally, I find the cinnamon in tea to be too in-my-face and that it completely overwhelms everything else. Not so with this tea! I enjoyed it.
Flavors: Cinnamon
See?! Puerh is not scary! Glad you enjoyed it, so many people simply do not try it because when they hear how it is made they assume all kinds of crazy things about the taste of it. Yay for you! :D
Well I sent you one with kombucha powder in it and you said you would try what I send so HA! (now you are like “Omg why did I say anything”)
It’s like the yogurt of tea! No big deal! Come on. If you go look on Wikipedia, it also says “The kombucha culture can also be used to make an artificial leather”.
Lmao ok you don’t have to try it but I had it and it was good!
I ordered this at Verdant because I’d never had a smoky tea before. It was indeed smoky! It wasn’t unpleasant for me but I don’t think that smoke is one of my favorite flavors. If you do like smoky teas, I would recommend it though! It was smooth and mellow and tasted expensive if you know what I mean.
When I think smoky, I think rooibos so when I see “smoky” in the descritption, I cripple up with fear and cringe. Damn you Oh Canada for making me hate smokiness so much.
This was another tea set out for free samples at verdant and was served iced. This tea is incredibly fruity! It tasted almost like a fruit juice, lychee I think with a hint of citrus. I really liked the taste of this tea and it was very refreshing, but I couldn’t get past the smell of the tea. It smelled like overripe fruit with a hint of decay. My friend Sarah loved it though, so it must just be me.
Flavors: Lychee
This was one of the teas set out for samples today at Verdant. I guess I don’t have a sensitive palate (also I don’t have a ton of experience) because I didn’t get a lot of complexity from this tea. It tasted mainly roasted to me and was pretty good, but not my favorite oolong.
This tea was different than other vanilla teas that I have. The vanilla had less of a creamy, desert-like quality to it. It reminded me more of that vanilla taste you get from bourbon.I may have under-leafed this cup a tiny bit, but the flavors weren’t rich enough for me. The black base was unremarkable. Despite the fact that this tea had a somewhat unique taste, it was still a meh experience.
Flavors: Vanilla
Preparation
I finished my sample of Black Lotus this morning because A. It’s a great breakfast tea, especially when you want to add bit of luxury to your morning and B. I dreamed last night that I got an email that my Butiki order had shipped and would be delivered the same day. This filled me with joy in dreamland. Do you see what you’ve done to me, steepster? I’m now dreaming about tea.
When I got to work I found that I actually did have an email from Butiki stating that my order had shipped! It won’t be delivered today though because that is only possible in my dreams. Still, I’m quite pleased.
So I didn’t actually drink this last night, but while I was packing some of this up to send to Virginia I ate one of the almond pieces out of it….yeah…..don’t ever do that. Public service announcement.
LMAO I’m glad I just proofread this note because I had written pubic service announcement not public service announcement.
Good to know, I always debate whether or not I should eat the stuff that’s in my tea, just to see…By the way, I will shamefully admit that I had to re read that last statement about 10 times and then compare it letter for letter before noticing the difference xD So embarrassing. Why am I always that girl that’s like “what?” with a dumb expression on my face?? EVEN ON THE INTERNET gaaah
That sounds like the title of a really sketchy craigslist add “Pubic service announcement” haha
I accidentally bought this. Dreaded rooisbos! Oh well, I’ll check it out.
It’s actually not bad. I can’t really taste the rooisbos (bonus!). I get mainly some sweet coconut with a little spice rounding out the end of the sip. All in all it tastes pretty good but the flavors are weak and the tea just seems somehow thin even after I forgot about it and it steeped for quite a while.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Cloves, Coconut
Preparation
I think most people use 2 tea bags with Celestial Seasonings. If the flavors were ok for you that helps. I also find that their spiced or chai blends benefit greatly with a touch of milk.
Oooooh I got a whole bunch of new greens today and reading this is making me want to try them all right now!
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it!
