268 Tasting Notes
I woke up and really wanted something refreshing and cool, but alas I didn’t have enough milk to make another matcha milk! So I went with matcha soda, although the only carbonated water I had was coconut flavored. The combination is surprisingly good! I get a little coconut flavor at first, but then the buttery/nutty flavor of this matcha comes through and actually blends pretty nicely. Kind of like a macaroon? But not really.
Flavors: Butter, Nuts
This is my first matcha milk and I am liking it! A LOT. While I wouldn’t say that it really tastes like toffee, there is a very nice buttery component to it with a hint of nuttiness. I will definitely be ordering more matchas from Red Leaf, although maybe not this one. It’s good, it just didn’t blow my socks off. Thanks for the preparation instructions, Marzipan!
Yes, it is 2:30 am. Yes, I have been drinking. That doesn’t diminish how delicious this tea is. It’s so good, I suspect witchcraft (j/k). Thus, I’m drinking it out of a Hedwig mug. I’m drinking it while eating an actual sugar cookie. Double whammy.
Another review for this tea because it is truly delicious! It has such a great almond taste. It’s not like eating almonds, but more like a almond flavoring in a baked good. It reminds me of my Mom’s sugar cookies :-) (She puts almond flavoring in the cookies and the icing, in case that wasn’t obvious). With drinking H&S’s Soho blend this morning and now this, this must be favorite tea day for me!
This tea deserves a second review because it is just that good! It is just dreamy- mostly coconut with great chocolate notes as well. The tea blend itself is just gorgeous and the aroma is fantastic. I’m obsessed. I bought a pound of this tea. If anyone wants to try it, and I think everyone should unless you don’t like coconut, hit me up for a swap!
Saturday morning + SoHo blend + catching up on Scandal = perfection
Flavors: Chocolate, Coconut
darby, I’m good with whatever companies experienced steepsters (i.e. you!) like! Trying new things is the exciting part! Things that I don’t like: rooisbos, bergamot, tons of citrus. Other than that, things that I really enjoy are black tea, vanilla, chocolate, coconut, almond, and fruit flavors. I’m also in the market for a good caffeine-free tea as I only have one “night” tea that I am really enamored with! Surprise me and I will be glad to send some of this to you :). Also, let me know how much I should send? This will be my first swap!
I just got come from one of those wine and painting events (so fun!). I’m not very skilled, so I claim to be an impressionist ;). Not that impressionists are not skilled! I just can’t replicate the example in perfect detail. Anyway, I have to be at work at 7am tomorrow, but I have time for tea, right? Right. I’m extremely limited in my selection of caffeine-free teas and I accidentally bought this when I was in a hurry, not noticing it was a rooisbos. It’s not unpalatable, which is saying something since I hate rooisbos. It mainly tastes like cinnamon. I guess I’d drink it if I was desperate. I need suggestions for caffeine-free teas please!
Flavors: Cinnamon
This has been my work tea for a while- it satisfies my need for something sweet in the afternoon and wakes me up! My body’s circadian rhythm insists that around 3:30pm is nap time, but this tea helps me to not sleep at my desk and get kicked out of my lab. The main flavor you get is peppermint, peppermint, peppermint. I normally dislike peppermint teas because they’re a little too intense. However, the chocolate tones really mellow this peppermint nicely. The peppermint to chocolate flavor ratio is more York peppermint patty than thin mint. All in all, a very pleasant tea that I have bought again and again!
Steepster has encouraged me to drink a wider variety of teas and this led to the lesson I learned last night: Green tea has waaaaay more caffeine in it than I thought it did! I was up until 2am and then had to be up by 7am this morning, which led to me wanting a tea to kick me in the teeth this morning. Since I didn’t have a good plain black breakfast tea (how is is this possible?!? must rectify), I went with my go-to non-flavored black tea. It is a delicate black tea and oh so smooth. I managed to enjoy it despite my early morning fog of sleepiness and grumpiness. This tea is perfect if you want a good quality, stand alone black tea. Lovely flavor!
