It’s new tea subscription time! And because Monstrositea have changed their monthly naming conventions, the box that would (due to precedent) be May is now June, so it arrives just in time for the start of the new month (or even a couple of days early, just our luck!). Much better.
And I’m excited to see that this month’s box includes a tea that I didn’t need to add to Steepster because it’s from the wonderful Lupicia! Woo, my first Lupicia tea!
I couldn’t resist cracking this one open first, as it’s one of the two I’m most drawn to (being more complex blends/flavours—the other two teas this month are simple ones: a lavender, and a lemongrass & ginger). I had my More Tea bottle at work today after steeping all I could from the Butiki Watermelon Xylophone leaves I had in there yesterday, so I got rid of those and dropped in a scoop of Kotobuki, then tried to be very patient.
I love cold brewing greens, whites and oolongs while I’m at work because they steep so quickly! I only have to be patient for a couple of hours and that’s just enough time to get a mild and delicious flavour without the greens getting too bitter for me.
And Kotoburi worked perfectly this way. The first steep I left for maybe two hours, tipping from end to end occasionally to watch the pretty leaves. I drank a few mouthfuls, strong with lovely fruits and florals, then topped it up the rest of the way with fresh water. And kept doing this all day. And it was awesome.
