257 Tasting Notes
Dry tea has a very sweet scent, like cherry candy or sugarplums.
Brewed, the liquor is clear amber and the taste is not sweet but has notes of nice toasted malt and a hint of prune with the Oolong remaining the star. Nice Oolong.
Preparation
The dry tea was like smelling a vanilla scented rose. Beautiful to look at with whole pieces of baby pink roses.
Brewed, this tea has the scent of sweet vanilla and a beautiful amber color. Tasted of creamy vanilla and as it cools has a bit of sweet to it. Excellent black tea, definitely a tea to keep in one’s cupboard!!
Preparation
The dry leaves have hardly any essence but a tiny hint of cocoa scent.
Brewed, the tea is a light clear pearlescent color. This is a wonderful morning tea because it is so lightly flavored. Nice with fruit. I detect a tiny bit of almond scent in the brewed, wet leaves and a tiny hint in the tea liquor. Very nice white tea.
Preparation
The dry tea has a creamy piña colada scent,,,the leaves are long, slender, & twisted to release lots of flavor.
Brewed, the tea is light golden color with flavors of pineapple and subtle coconut that lets the Oolong shine thru as the main event.
As the tea cools, memories of driving down the Big Island coast at sunset prove this is a very meditative, relaxing tea. Loved it.
Preparation
The dry pieces have a fantastic candied blood orange peel sweet scent!!! The brewed blend is a beautiful, deep ruby blood orange-red color. This herbal is very tangy and had some notes of sour lemon to it,,,probably from the pith of the orange peel. I don’t usually add anything to tea or tisane but this one might have really been even better with a bit of honey :) I bet this is a good one to have as iced tea. Gonna chill my other steeping and try it cold tomorrow. Took a little sip this morning of the chilled tea and I didn’t like it as iced herbal tea so I might like this blended into black tea? Needs a little toning down :)
Preparation
Beautiful light golden color. This tea is perfectly named because there is a subtle essence of lily. Very mesmerizing. Like walking through a flower garden in the morning dew.
Later steeped another cup with the leaves because they are rolled tightly making it great for additional steepings. The next cup was just as delicious and golden in color. Can drink more of this less oxidized Oolong because the caffeine effects aren’t as strong to me.
And kept the leaves for a final steep in the late afternoon and the tea was still the beautiful golden color and just as delicious. Loved this Oolong :)
Preparation
Very beautiful spring green color when brewed. Been drinking this tea daily with lunch as I got it a while ago and got lots of it. Definitely drink this one with food in your stomach because the green tea tannins are heavy on the stomach. The flavor is very vegetal and lovely. I always feel transported to Japan when I drink this tea and daydream. This is very good green tea.
Preparation
Beautiful amber red color. The aroma is so yummy with toasted pecans. The balance of flavors is nice with the raspberry being subtle and not sweet so the rooibos can shine thru. I enjoyed this hot before bed because it is caffeine free. The description on Zhi says that red rooibos has high levels of antioxidants and high anti-aging properties which is nice also!!!! I have enjoyed my purchase with Zhi too, they are very courteous to customers and organic! I bought lots of different samples from them and will be buying more from Zhi :)
Preparation
A little harsh because of the cinnamon oil for me. This tea bag also contains stevia leaf which I found gave it an artificial sweetener taste. There are other herbs including chicory root, cardamom seed, ginger root, clove bud, and black pepper. It does contain cocoa powder but it’s not a main ingredient and doesn’t come thru in the tea. Definitely drink this alone because it will overpower a cookie with it’s cinnamon oil.
