56 tasting notes

Wow! Had my first taste of genmaicha this morning. Even after reading most of the tasting notes here I was still quite shocked by the taste. It tastes exactly like puffed wheat! And with the sea-weedy green tea it reminds me a lot of soup broth. Very strange, but I’m really enjoying it. The steeping instructions online at DT stated 1-2 PS for 16oz in HOT water while the tea packet stated 1.25 tsp at 86 degrees C for 2-3 minutes with no water volume given. I have a 14oz cup so I did just under 1 PS at 80 degrees for 2 minutes. For the resteep I added on 30 more seconds. Both came out very good, although the second cup wasn’t as wheaty as the first.

Note: I got 4 steeps in total! The wheat came back for the 3rd and 4th. It lost the soup-like qualities and got more sweet.
