Prior to steeping you’re able to smell the hints of roasted rice within this matcha/genmaicha blend. It has heavy earthen tones and the dust of the matcha is visible within the metal container and gives the drink a heavily green color.

The taste is very crisp and refreshing. The blend helps mitigate some of the standard bitterness that usually accompanies green teas. The aftertaste is not very long, but it is very flavorful in of itself. Definitely one of my more favorite “tea bag” green teas (I usually am preferential to loose leaf so I can see the quality of the leaf and have a deeper infusion/steep). It is on the pricier side though. That being said, this tea company typically has very nice quality teas that can be steeped about twice, depending. I plan on steeping this tea a second time for slightly longer as well to enjoy a second cup, though the second cup might be more bitter.

drank Youth Berry by Teavana

This tea is a tad sour. For those who like sour fruity teas this would probably be good. I think for a white tea though the flavor is a tad strong. I like it, but there is no lingering aftertaste that makes it good to intermittently sip on. The aroma is very citrusy and it does feel refreshing while drinking it. I can’t help but feel there is something very lacking from this tea however. Unfortunately this tea is also expensive due to it being Teavana/Starbucks brand so for me personally, it’s not worth the money to buy again. I would be hesitant in recommending this to someone else.

drank Caramel Apple Spice by Yogi Tea

Compared to past experiences with Yogi, I was actually quite unimpressed with this one. I tried to cold brew it in a pitcher for about 10-12 hours. Normally when I brew tea this way even the most pungent and bitter leaves have a somewhat smooth flavor. This one for some reason had a distasteful after taste of licorice and way more spice than necessary. I didn’t even taste the apple. It was just spicy licorice. Definitely won’t be buying this tea again, though I might try and re-brew this as a hot tea later on and see if the flavor profile changes. As for now, not a fan.

drank Chai cha cha by Cottage Garden Teas

I brought my water to a boil and waited about one minute before pouring it over my loose leaf tea (to avoid scorching). I let it steep for about 3 or so minutes before adding it to a mug. I did add some Truvia and a dash of milk to it because I love milk or cream with spice teas. I know it’s not the traditional way of drinking it most likely, but it makes for an enjoyable early fall spice creamy tea.
The smell is fairly powerful and being able to see the individual parts of the tea you can see all the different spices that were put into it. Definitely going to be a fall staple for me along with some of my other loose leaf chai teas.

drank matcha by eZentea

I did not have entirely proper utensils to make this tea traditionally. I used a handmade stoneware soup cup (like a bowl with a handle), metal whisk, and hot water. I put the water in first and then put 2tsp of matcha green tea powder on top of about 8-10oz of water. I then whisked the tea until it was frothy and drank it along with some sweet pocky as a complimentary snack.

Before making the tea however I took time to open the little pouch and look at and smell the tea. It was so finely ground it was almost like compressed chalk dust. The smell was definitely earthy with a heavy emphasis on grass like qualities.

Once the tea was whisked to have a thin layer of “froth” on the top, I took a taste and noticed how the initial taste of this tea is not quite as bitter as non-matcha green tea. The after taste was definitely bitter, but it was not unsavory. There was something in the bitterness that was very earthy and made it feel natural. Definitely not a tea you want to power or chug, but a good sipping beverage to sit and relax for a short while

drank Gyokuro Imperial by Teavana

One of the best Japanese green teas I’ve ever tasted. While this tea tends to err on the pricier side I find the cost worth it. This is not a tea I drink daily as it would be too expensive. However I served it to a Japanese gust today, so I took the liberty of re-steeping it for myself later. These tea leaves are not a one-steep and done tea. These leaves are actually good enough to steep two and three times. It requires a little bit longer steep time (1st: 2 mins, 2nd: 4-5 mins, 3rd: 6-5 mins).

I steeped this in my clay Yixing Travel Tea Tumbler (made by Teavana) and I can’t wait to season the clay with my favorite tea :)
Debating on brewing the Kyoto Organic Cherry Green Tea in it as well, but I don’t want the floral hints to throw off the seasoning of the clay.

Overall this is by far my most valued and favorite tea in my cupboard.

I wouldn’t drink scented tea in porous clay. Welcome btw.

Thank you for the advice. I didn’t do it afterall as the floral accents would probably seep into the clay and ruin the natural green tea taste I’m trying to go for.

Definitely one of my favorite green teas. This green tea is refreshing (as long as you don’t steep it too long and make it bitter). The sakura cherry blossom petals in it give it a floral aroma before sipping that help leave a smooth and airy taste to accompany the traditional green tea flavor. Definitely would buy this tea again when it runs out.

This isn’t a terrible tea. However the blueberry overpowers the green tea flavor and slightly throws it off balance. It’s hard to find a good steep time as steeping green tea too long makes it bitter, but if you don’t steep this tea long enough you can’t taste the green tea part of it. I plan to drink all of it in my spare time, but I don’t plan to re-buy or restock this tea.

Full bodied flavor. Personally I enjoyed making it as a cold brew. Leaving it to steep in a pitcher of cold water for 10-14 hours makes the vanilla taste even sweeter. It very much reminds me of what cinnamon sugar popcorn tastes like. It’s super refreshing iced.
I personally add a small squirt of liquid stevia sweetener for a 2 Liter pitcher. I put about 3 tea bags in as well for the 2 Liter sized pitcher.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Licorice, Vanilla

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more
