102 Tasting Notes
This tea put me off with both it’s brewed and dry smell, but it was more pleasant once sipping. I could taste both the green and black teas in it, and peach with a slightly vegetative edge. It was a good cup of tea but I can’t see this becoming one of my go-to teas.
My ratings always seem somewhat harsh when I judge on a 100-points basis. (The same happens with wine ratings.) But I enjoy this tea quite a bit. If I did put milk in tea, I think this would be one where I would enjoy it. But I don’t, and it’s still quite comforting. I find the small a bit off-putting, but the taste is quite pleasant.
I just want to like this tea more than I do. I get that it’s complex and I guess at some level I do see why so many people like it (and monkey teas in general). I’m just not that big a fan of Chinese black teas. I find the taste ‘in mouth’ (ok, I’m far more familiar with reviewing wines, but I’m trying here!) to be pleasant, but I find it a bit sour and bitter once it’s left my mouth. I probably won’t buy it again, but I will drink what I have already bought.
