I made up a thermos of this tea this afternoon, packed up a blanket and a book and bundled myself off to King’s Park to lay in the sun and sip tea. The most perfect way to spend an afternoon.

I’m a bit bored with my tea cupboard at the moment but trying to get through a few more before I purchase anything new.

This one is far from boring though. My favourite jasmine green tea and I’m a little sad to be running low.

I still have a little of this one stashed away in my cupboard. My tea drinking has picked up a notch with the cooler weather and I’ve been enjoying this oolong again. It isn’t overly fancy but is very agreeable and re-steeps well.

The sun is behind cloud and I’m snugged under a blanket sipping away at this tea and sunday afternoon is perfect. This certainly isn’t a sophisticated oolong but it is very comforting.

I worked this tea out just in time to run out of it. It turns out that it requires a fair bit more leaf than the assams that I’ve drunk in the past. I was being a bit stingy with it because it was pretty expensive but once I let that go, upped the leaf and lowered the brew time, it became a whole different tea.

I can’t rate it too highly though because for the price, I just don’t love assam or think this tea stands out enough to ever repurchase it.

Oh well. At least the Perth weather is cool enough to really enjoy some tea sipping again.

I haven’t reviewed a tea for a while. I don’t have a kettle at my new job but I do have a rather fancy coffee machine so I’ve been drinking and experimenting with coffee much more. Besides that, Perth is quite hot and my air conditioner can’t cope so it has been G&Ts all summer long here.

I had this tea sent to be me rivertea late last year when I won it in a competition. Like all the teas they sent me it arrived in beautiful packaging and has been pleasant to drink. It is a lovely drink with enjoyable sweet floral notes and although it might not have the complexity for some high grade oolongs, I don’t need to feel guilty about drinking it on an ordinary day.

I am drinking this brewed hot and poured over ice today. I made it a bit weaker than I usually do for hot brewed iced tea, four teaspoons to 1.5 litres, but I think it is just about perfect. I find the lighter flavour really refreshing and the colour is beautiful.

I upped my rating a little too because I have enjoyed it more iced. Yum!

I went off florals for a while after struggling to get through some very intense examples but haven’t had one in my cupboard for a while so was very pleased to receive this as a gift. I’ve also never tried a MF tea before either so was really excited to try it.

Sometimes I find floral teas a bit soapy but this is a fruity floral so manages to avoid that. There is no mistaking that you are drinking flowers but it also manages some restraint and isn’t overwhelming. I think the description on the box of “a tea for lovers” is wonderful too, though I could also see it as “a tea for a ladies craft circle” which also happens to be my kind of crowd haha.

This one surprised me, I didn’t expected to to be at all so fruity. I’d gobbled down some dark chocolate right before I started sipping too and usually find that chocolate will overpower delicate green teas but I could taste this one right away. So far I’m really enjoying it but will save the ranking for a chocolate free session :)

No coffee shops were open this morning and since I don’t have a coffee machine my caffeine cravings were pretty out of control. I went rummaging through my tea stash for a black tea when I came across a sample of this that Sil sent me.

I’m really enjoying it. It has a nice rich flavour, some delicious chocolate notes and holds up well when consumed with left over christmas shortbread. When I get myself organised and place a Verdant order this will almost certainly be on my list.
