From RiverTea

If you’re in a quest for a rich flavorful oolong tea to wake up your senses and offer a palate experience like none ever before, then this is the blend for you. Formosa Jade Oolong is grown in striking altitudes in the mountainous climate of Taiwan, tended with misty fogs and sea breeze that give this lightly fermented blend its winning flavor. It is a florally aromatic tea, described as “honeysuckle milk” and it carries fresh notes of peach blossoms for a subtly sweet oolong that touts a long-lasting flavor. Rolled, tightly balled leaves characterize this sparkling tea that unveils a mesmerizing jade color when brewed.

I was lucky enough to be chosen as a winner for the pre-launch, I asked for an Oolong and received this wonderful Formosa Jade Oolong. Thank you River Tea

Brewing this tea in my new kettle teapot which can hold up to 1.5 litres and has a retractable egg steeper. I brew three large spoons of Oolong and infused it in 1 litre of water for three minutes.

My result is a yellow tea with a mild yet sweet and floral scent.

The flavour is also mild but tastes sweet, almost honeyed, and has a fresh, floral and fruitiness to it. Rather like subtle forms of honey suckle flowers and lightly toasted peach slices. Not only is it light but it also has a buttery after taste too.

A nice Oolong that will be perfect to use in my new flask to take to work. Due to it’s sweetness and general lightness I’m imagining it would be amazing iced.

Another (and still a few to go!) tea from the euro travelling box, this just seemed a perfect tea to celebrate spring equinox.

It is a lovely, very pale (I must have underleafed, will try again) green oolong. Small leaves, a sweet wild flower flavour, just as expected. Maybe a hint of a cinnamon like woodyness as well? A nice tea, must experiment with the rest of the sample

I haven’t reviewed a tea for a while. I don’t have a kettle at my new job but I do have a rather fancy coffee machine so I’ve been drinking and experimenting with coffee much more. Besides that, Perth is quite hot and my air conditioner can’t cope so it has been G&Ts all summer long here.

I had this tea sent to be me rivertea late last year when I won it in a competition. Like all the teas they sent me it arrived in beautiful packaging and has been pleasant to drink. It is a lovely drink with enjoyable sweet floral notes and although it might not have the complexity for some high grade oolongs, I don’t need to feel guilty about drinking it on an ordinary day.
